Everton Alumni Olivier Dacourt

Bilic hardly played for Walter. Infact by the time Walter arrived, he didn’t play that many games in the rest of his career I don’t think. He must be up there with one of the worst signings we’ve ever made in terms of what was a big outlay at the time becoming us giving him away on a free just two years later, probably after having to pay him off too. Couldn’t believe it when he was linked with coming back as manager once like he was some kind of Everton legend. We may as well have gone the whole hog and got Danny Williamson in as his assistant.
Bilic was injured and suspended most of his time at Everton. A complete waste of money.

Before it was common place for professional footballers to milk a club dry, Bilic was a parasite to us.

GK: Simonsen
DF: Materazzi
MF: Dacourt
MF: Collins
FW: Bakayoko

Thought they would bring the dynamic change we needed.

Simonsen of course was rated as the next future English keeper

Materazzi was relatively unknown but you could tell he was a bag of emotions and would have become a hero for us over the years

Dacourt was by far our best player and one of the best midfielders in the league. All rounder and just class.

Collins was a massive let down...i think the fee was £2.5mil at the time which all went down the toilet with this guy. Night and day with him and Dacourt yet he seemed to act like he was the superstar lol

Bakayoko moved like Tony Yeboah but very quickly it became apparent that he wasnt suited to the league. So disappointing.

I dont think weve often had big windows like that...perhaps one under Moshiri and it looks like one this summer.

Hopefully 3rd time lucky.

Was our best player at the time gutted when he went back to France.

We signed him but couldn’t afford to keep him if my memory is right.

Very, very, very good footballer.

One we had and let get a way.
Yeah this is my memory. Also remember mate's then gf (now wife) telling me that one of their uni mates was working for the club as the interpreter for both him and Materazzi IIRC.

We sold him to Lens for what we paid Strasbourg for him. Forgot that he played for Leeds after that when they were in their Peter Ridsdale pomp. And Fulham too?? 'kinell my memory..

His mate Materazzi ofc would go on to become a Shithousery Hall of Fame legend in the 2006 WC final...
