Everton Alumni Olivier Dacourt

Even with those players in the team we were rubbish.

The feller was notorious for playing boring football.

John Collins has to be one of the biggest wastes of money in Everton history BTW.
Everyone assumed Collins was some silky ball player because he played abroad and was a leftie.

He was always a bit of steady pass the ball five yards type of player.

The only thing he did well for us really was filling in at left back during an injury crisis.

Bilic hardly played for Walter. Infact by the time Walter arrived, he didn’t play that many games in the rest of his career I don’t think. He must be up there with one of the worst signings we’ve ever made in terms of what was a big outlay at the time becoming us giving him away on a free just two years later, probably after having to pay him off too. Couldn’t believe it when he was linked with coming back as manager once like he was some kind of Everton legend. We may as well have gone the whole hog and got Danny Williamson in as his assistant.
Magically made himself available for international tournaments too.

Bit harsh on Williamson though, he had a career ending injury. At least he played well in the Cadamarteri derby...

At Celtic he was much more dynamic. Went to France and started to learn 'sophisticated' football, good nutrition etc and came back to this country talking 'philosophy' and playing like a crab.

Was a strange season that, made some very positive signings but was just a bit meh in the end.

It was my very first season as a season ticket holder. Really liked him and if we had a bit more stability as a team and club we may have seen a few more seasons of him.

My french teacher in school taught him and materazzi English, she got me a few signed photos because I was the only Evertonian in the class, maybe that was a kiss of death

Remember playing Wimbledon or Palace at Selhurst Park. We was winning, minutes to go Dacourt was 1 booking away from missing the derby. Didnt make a tackle all game. Last minute he got put through on goal but was offside and chipped the keeper. Booked for time wasting and missed the derby. Typical.

I reckon I would look dynamic in the SPL and I will probably pull a muscle from just typing this.

Very, very underwhelming with the reputation he came with. Seemed a very sour, grumpy guy as well.
Imagine how pished off you'd be one minute swanning around the French riviera, paid up the the eye balls, surrounded by supermodels, in the prime of your life only to get moved on to anywhere else that isn't a baywatch set. IIRC he mentioned he'd been sold on promises that were never delivered. An affront to the chairman of the time.

Yeah you’re probably right. My beef isn’t actually with Williamson, it’s with the signing of him. He’d been struggling with a recurring injury for a long time when we signed him, so it was madness, particularly when we were struggling for cash.

After Reidy and Andy Gray, I think Kendall always had a soft spot for the idea of signing players who’d lost part of their career thru injury and not many others would take a risk on.
