Transfer Rumour Olivier Giroud

A proven PL goal scorer who would be an ideal replacement for Rom, obviously not a long term solution given his age, but is anything in the modern PL long term anymore? £20m given he'll be 31 in Sept is bonkers like, but we'll just have to screw Chelsea that bit harder over Rom

Would definitely take him, if he'll come. Big, strong, current French international. Pace & age isn't a big issue for a player of his type. Big bully in the box type players can go well into mid thirties.

Couldn't agree more. I really rate giroud and think he'd fit in well here. But to pay 20m and 100k wages is ludicrous for someone who is nearly 31. Taking into his transfer fee and wages that's 35m over a 3 year contract or nearly 12m a season!! I know we've spent big on Pickford and klassen, but at least they have youth on their side and potentially large re-sale value should we want to exercise that option further down the line.

I suppose it's all relative mate, if we rinse Chelsea for say £90m for Rom, the £20m fee for 3 years of Giroud looks like nothing. If we hung on to Rom this season we'd lose probably nearly double that in his loss of value getting down to 12 months left.

Think the age argument goes out of the window a bit with Giroud. He's never had pace so his game doesn't rely on that. He's a big physical target man who holds the ball up really well and can score all sorts of goals. I'd have him for a sensible price

Oh and he's a hunk

In a world where the likes of Troy deeney would set you back 25+mil, 20 for giroud would be a steal even if he's 31

Giroud with Sandro buzzing around him upfront sounds very interesting. £20 million for a guy that could probably give us three 15 goal seasons is peanuts.

Giroud would offer us a player who can hold the ball up and bring others in to play and he's dead from crosses. He'd be an incredible signing but can't see it happening.

Honestly would prefer Walcott and Welbeck from Arsenal. Welbeck has all the makings of a centre forward to hold the ball with good control, pace and is now maturing into a bit of a unit.

I included Walcott just because I've been saying it all summer and I really rate him, he needs to be a first team starter now.

One more point, didn't Giroud try it on with Morgan's now wife.....
