O'Neill Resigns

Bit of a shock to me.

Don't ever see Moyes doing that to be honest. He's just as much about Everton as any of the players at this point.

I hope this is bollocks. I'm a fan of Moyes, he has set our club on track, coached up some players, added some real grit and character to our team and proven VERY shrewd in the transfer market. The players seem to love playing for him (minus Gosling).

I think losing Moyes would suck for us, but I'm also not sure why he would even consider villa over us. Seems to be a move in the wrong direction for both he and the club. Lose Lose.

Untested Dickov < David Moyes at Everton.

If he leaves us for ManU after SAF, I'll understand it, but this just seems wrong. I hope there is no truth in it.

This is where I should make up a fictional Villa poster and come on here to antagonise you all about Villa being a step up or something.

They're not quite as MASSIVE as City though are they? Not far off in their minds though I guess.
O'Neil has right shafted the team, nice work

The inevitable shize from you guessed it, the Star.....

RANDY LERNER wants David Moyes as the new Aston Villa manager after last night’s shock resignation of Martin O’Neill.

The American owner has been left staggered by O’Neill’s decision to walk out on the club just five days before the start of the new Premier League season. But he will move swiftly to attempt to repair the damage by targeting Everton boss Moyes.

Lerner is a huge fan of the Scot, who has performed miracles at Goodison Park on a restricted budget.

More likely from Sky Sports, and one for you Americans! Villa better stay away from LD!! =)

Bob Bradley has confirmed he would be keen to coach in Europe after he was installed as the favourite to become Aston Villa's new manager.

Martin O'Neill stepped down as Villa boss on Monday amid reports the club's transfer policy was behind the Ulsterman's decision.

Villa owner Randy Lerner is now searching for a replacement and his fellow American, and current USA coach, Bradley has emerged as a leading contender.

Bradley also being reported as favorite on ESPN and The Guardian:

But this is what happened with Fulham, so who knows?

I just love the fact that all these publications have two different men. Although I guess they are both mentioned.

Wanna bet it's neither? ;)

You're wrong there mate, seriously.

Just read that the Villa players were texting each other pics of champagne bottles after hearing the news. Maybe the medical pong of O'Neill got too much for them.

Mark Hughes just linked with them.... are the papers just completely mental?

I hope Dickov isn't tempted by Villa. Wouldn't want to miss out there. Nailed on for us if Moyes eventually goes to MU.

Southgate not been mentioned for Villa?

zero chance Moyes will go to Villa. If they were still on a mad spending spree I still don't think he would go. He'd only go for a step up in his career - e.g Man United or perhaps one of the big foreign clubs. Celtic like the Scotland job he's leaving until he's older (he's publicly stated this more than once).

We only need to worry really when Ferguson steps down.

A sideways move to a club that has no money makes no sense. He's a legend where he is.

The People's Club: It's emblazoned on loads of merchandise, on the website, on the fan's lips.

And they are his words. Only United and Arsenal can also claim to have a settled long term manager who embodies the club as much as Moyes does.
