Here is my thoughts...
football has sadly changed now.. all these fickle modern day fans care about now is winning and nothing else, they don’t go much deeper than the first eleven and if they win or not, they don’t give a damn about being a part of something, sharing the highs and lows with other fans who are the same as them.
unfortunately Bill Kenwright no longer fits in with that... his crime.. he simply doesn’t have enough money.. I will challenge anybody to say if he had the dosh it would be provided to the manager straight away.. go as far as to say he would give the club the new stadium money too if he had it.
I have Liverpool fan mates who said exactly the same as fans do about Kenwright with David Moores.. he was as big a red as Kenwright is a blue... the reds got there wish and first got Hicks and Gillette then once they were run out of town they got John Henry and FSG. My red mates cry and moan all the time that although they have had recent success the club is now a souless yank manufactures business much like KFC or Burger King.. they walk to the match alongside Tarquin from Surrey and Ivor from Somerset instead of Tommy from the Dingle and Billy from Kirkdale.. people they sadly have nothing in common with, they sit with these people and can’t talk about what was in the Echo.. the pair of shoes they bought from Greaty market which fell to bits after 2 weeks, or how they waited ages for a Delta Taxi.. they don’t even know who Dickie Lewis is.. by the way this happend to the reds years and years earlier.. the point I am trying to make is Kenwright still has his old local values, he still has that old blue tradition that although it sadly does‘nt get you much finance wise is still worth much more as in a link to the past and what the club stands for.
I bet people now.. that in another ten years there will be Man City fans from Deansgate or Hulme who although they will have another six leagues and four European Cups will still wish for the old Kippax and when the Club belonged to them instead of having to share it across the globe with every Gloryhunting Tom.. [Poor language removed] and Harry who has bought a scarf..
At the end of the day traditions and proper footballing values are much more important over money.
what’s the point in winning Leagues and Champions Leagues if when you win them the Club no longer feels like your own anymore because it’s been diluted by Gloryhunters and owners who are only there for financial gain..
Kenwright and Moores might not of fitted in with the modern game because they simply don’t have enough cash but you can’t deny there hearts values and traditions which is far more important...
sorry folks rant over...
