2024/25 Orel Mangala

The midfield is interesting as its down to Iroegbunam (2 years) and Garner (1 year) who will have time on their deals this summer.

If both are extended and depending on whether Armstrong comes into the middle as e.g 4th choice...we'd be looking at one signing to come in.

As our top midfielder we need a star.
I’d like Armstrong to go on loan. Looks a decent player but minutes are everything.

Goes to show how bad Wolves were, where he looked decent, clearly not match fit against proper functioning title chasing premier league side. Still going to be an upgrade on what we have when up too speed.

Not saying he's the answer, but we spent over £30m on Onana and I know which one I prefer.

Clearly and by miles Onana when used as a midfield anchor. Its not even a point of discussion.

Do they want 30m? He's a decent player but more like a 12-15m signing.

I'd struggle to understand why we'd spend anything on him. Just the wages alone seem a stretch to me.

Should have started every recent game where Doucoure was in instead of him, deranged decision by the manager to drop him for a player so limited and obviously finished at this level.

£20m in the summer, hopefully, all over that. We wouldn't get better for the money.

£20mil for someone who can calmly pass the ball ?

Bloody hell.

A real stabilising force, with the midfield 3 we’ve found our balance.

Really enjoy how he uses the ball under pressure.

The centre looks pretty dreadful to me. If were looking for negativity and below average play with no standout performer then yes its definitely "balanced" :o

I'm struggling to understand what anyone sees in this player aside from him being able to pass a football under pressure.

Aside from that, he has no attributes.

Right to you're opinion, but he wasn't double, bought for £33m sold to £50m decent profit for a player who could be good on his day, but never had many days with us anyway.
Yeah fair point, however the overarching point I’m trying to make is that we should be buying young players with a high ceiling then moving them on for (re-checks sums) 1.5x what we bought them for IF they don’t want to stay or IF we have someone else lined up.

Orel is 26, there is no way we should be spending decent wedge on him. Yes he seems more consistent than Onana (he’s played about 5 games for us so really it’s tbd), but you can’t sell his potential when he’s 28 in 18 months time.

Your determination for him to be awful is a bit weird. He’s pretty decent, nothing special at all but a perfectly functional PL midfielder.
