heat of the moment mate you do anything to save you and your family I dont think anyone would wish harm on any human I certainly wouldnt, but if someone broke into my house I wouldnt think twice about using whatever force I needed to use to neutralise the threat, its okay having hope of the police being there but 9 times of of 10 when it comes down to it mate its you alone on the spot and you will do whatever it takes to stay alive.

I spent several years living in rural France where every farmer has a shotgun.Nobody but the extemely foolish burgle houses there,and if they do they are aware of the potential outcome and I'm sure it's the same in SA.

Anyway, seems like his defence team are using his disability to paint him as a vulnerable, helpless guy struck down by fear and shooting out wildly.

Seems he "woke up and heard something in the bathroom", "put on his stumps" (not his legs) and "grabbed his gun from under his bed" before "shouting out" in the pitch black and making his way to the bathroom before shooting wildly three of four times.

Bit strange he wouldn't realise his own girlfriend was in the bed they shared and that despite shouting out he didn't hear her in the bathroom or give a chance to respond.

I don't buy into it one bit, I hope he gets put in jail for the rest of his days.

What happened to the shouting reported by his neighbours? The previous arguements? Despite that he claims they were "deeply in love" and it was just a terrible accident.

Awful man.

Got to say I'm far from convinced by the defence account so far , long way to go but I think he's going to have a lot of explaining to do to ensure a not guilty here

Prosecution: not like waking up with someone over your bed and shoot on instinct. No, he woke, put on legs, took gun and walked 7m to shoot.

Absolutely right. Why would a burglar lock themselves in the bathroom if they're going to attack you like he thought was going to happen? Surely the best thing to do would have been to leave the house, or firstly make sure his girlfriend was OK before launching a vicious attack with his gun? Would she have really remained silent in the bathroom when he claims he shouted out? Did he shout out and shoot at the same time thus giving her no chance to respond? Unlikely. I think he's going down, praise the Lord.

I suspect there is a lot more to come out the fact the defence have accepted their was a row added to rumours of the rugby players text would lead you to believe there is something to support the account of a row (text , calls , evidence of other) . Shooting your girlfriend 'by mistake ' through a locked bathroom door after a row doesn't look good.

We'll have to wait and see all the evidence and the courts verdict but like I say it doesn't look good however the reality is the prosecution setting out its case (even at its basic level) is about as bad as it gets for the defence .

So he heard a noise in the bathroom, didn't turn to his partner & say a word, or even notice she wasn't there, makes time to put his legs on, grabs his shooter, goes straight to the bathroom & shoots 4 times through a door...........oh please, do me a favour.
