Martunis signing with Sporting Lisbon is hardly the type of eye-catching headline that typically surfaces during the transfer window. But undoubtedly, the 17-year-old's journey every bit warrants the same amount of attention and ink as the Paul Pogba and David De Gea attention-grabbers of the world.

Sporting Lisbon inked the Indonesian footballer to their youth academy on Wednesday. Eleven years prior, he spent 21 days stranded in a swamp after a 9.3 Indonesian earthquake cased a tsunami that killed 230,000 people, along with the then-seven-year-old's mother and two of his siblings.

According to the Daily Mail, Martunis was playing football in a Portugal shirt at the time of the 2004 Boxing Day disaster and survived from puddle water and washed-up noodles.

Ahh, taking me back to my student days

Thank goodness Deulofeu's sale didn't get delayed by all the politics at Barcelona.

Barça board unable to approve Arda Turan transfer

The mysterious transfer of Arda Turan to Barcelona will not be resolved until a new president is elected. According to Cadena SER radio, the board of directors who are temporarily in charge of running the club, have claimed that approving new signings would be “exceeding their functions and responsibilities”. La SER report that the board decided to put the deal on hold until after the results of the presidential elections on 18 July. Directors insist that they do not have the authority to approve any new signings, including that of Arda who, according to Catalan daily Sport is expected to cost around 35 million euros plus add-ons – close to the player’s buy-out fee of 41 million. The Turkish player has attracted the attention of a number of top clubs, including Chelsea, who have negotiated with his agent.

Dennis Praet linked to Villa, hardly seen him play but I imagine that might be the sort of league we sign our number 10 from/

Gamble buying someone like that. Spurs took a similar gamble on eriksson and it worked out well

@JamesHorncastle: Asked about Shaqiri, Mancini explains Inter have squad restrictions and might have to make decisions on some players with a heavy heart
@nutterpotterr: @JamesHorncastle @MikeNicolaides Any idea if Shaqiri wants to come to Stoke? I believe we nearly signed him in January but he picked Inter
@JamesHorncastle: @nutterpotterr @MikeNicolaides impression he isn’t too enthused by the idea.
