The club is absolutely huge.

I don't know how well-travelled you are, but they've probably got more fans in Thailand alone than Everton have around the world. Singapore, China, many other countries... they earn millions from fans who will never even step foot in England, whereas Everton can't even get a decent sponsor on the shirt and needed to roll back their morals to plaster Stake.com on the kit.

Notice how they travel to Asia every year to maintain their support over there? I was in Singapore a few years ago when they were coming and there was a frenzy in the country, red shirts all over the place.

They earn several times more for their training kit sponsor than we do for our main kit sponsor.

They have fans from around the globe going to Anfield spending hundreds on memorabilia.

Their reputation is that good that even crap players they no longer want are sold at a premium; Solanke, Ibe, Henderson, Fabinho, etc.

It's no surprise at all to me that they continue to be able to lash hundreds of millions on improving their squad.

Everton are decades behind them, maybe even three or four generations.
The whole of Germany loves them too

What the people who say "record over trophies" completely miss is that....he's 47 goals behind Shearer. Means he'll have to stay 2 more seasons in the league to top it.

Then if you look at the top 10 record premier league goalscorers. Every single one has won a trophy. Kane will be the odd one out.

If Haaland stays at City for 8 years and keeps a 30 goal ratio, he's beat him.

if that happened, Kane would be seen as a great goalscorer. Not a great player IMO.
Football is a team game. Individual awards and records are wonderful, but the true glory lies in being part of a winning team - or in fighting to the last drop with whatever team you find yourself surrounded by (hence the glory of the great player lifting his mediocre national team to heights otherwise impossible, whether they win or not). The truly great player aspires to both individual awards and team success. At the very highest level, ask a Ballon d'Or winner if he would trade that title for a World Cup win. The answer is obvious (perhaps Cristiano would demur...). Watch any documentary - such as Football's Greatest - about Roberto Baggio, Michel Platini, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Zico, or Luis Figo and you are always struck by the regret experienced at not winning the World Cup - despite being the best player in the world during their heydays. Sure, those legends were all part of winning teams at club level or even at national team level, but the very highest accolade - being part of a World Cup winning team - eluded them to their eternal regret.

We'll always remember players of this magnitude, but the likes of Julio Olarticoechea - Who? Exactly - forever bask in the shared camaraderie and personal satisfaction of being part of a collective that experienced magic together.

They just forcing Chelsea to pay more? Everyone will know they have £110m to spend now if this doesnt come off. Saints be licking their lips
