Sunderland AFC have completed the signing of the Gabon international Didier Ndong from French side Lorient, for a fee of 16 million euros.

Ndong joins the Black Cats on a five-year deal, becoming manager David Moyes’ seventh arrival of the summer.

The highly sought-after 22-year-old arrives on Wearside having made 46 appearances for the Ligue 1 team since joining them in January 2015.

Speaking after the completion of his move, Ndong said: “I am very proud and happy to sign for Sunderland. This is a new adventure for me and to play in the Premier League is a dream come true.

“Maybe the Sunderland fans don’t know me yet, but I promise that they will quickly discover that I will give everything for them and the club. It will be an honour to wear the Sunderland shirt and I will wear it with a true understanding of what it means.

“I am excited to meet everyone at the club, to see the stadium and of course the fans, who I have heard so many good things about. Today is the most beautiful day of my life.”

Those quotes are brilliant but I'm more looking forward to hearing the chants your lot come up with for a bloke called Didi Ndong.

I can think of one or 2 but the swear filter might get upset.

Sunderland must have stolen a march on Leicester because he must be the player Ranieri was talking about when he realised they'd qualified for the champions league last season

Best so far is

Ndong whoa, Ndong whoa
his name sounds like a c0ck
it's tucked into his sock

Surprised he is going there given the reported Roma offer.

Arsenal refused to deal with Roma because Roma hinted at a possible deal for Manolas before getting Szczesny but once the deal was done, they went cold on the idea.

Apparently terms were agreed Between Wilshere and Roma but Arsenal refused to sanction the deal.

Shame really. Szczesny and Wilshere having sneaky ciggies and espresso on some Roman piazza would have been worth it.
