Wolves signed a 20 year old Colombian centre half called Yerson mosquera

My first thought was how the hell did he get a work permit but then I realised it’s dodgy wolves and their super agents and money talks

I remember when we had to loan out onyenkuru for like 3 seasons straight cos he couldn’t get a work permit.

New rules apparently.

As usual we tit around with that Dutch clown dithering until deadline day.
I mean there hasn’t been any credible links in or out yet, we’re supposedly close to signing Nunes and there’s only speculation about Sigurdsson and James leaving, nothing concrete

The mad thing about that Onyenkuru situation is that all he had to do was stay at Anderlecht for one more year (or any other club in that country) and he would have been eligible for a visa. But, for whatever reason, we decided to just let him go somewhere else meaning we were resigned to never having him play for us.

We really should do something like City and Chelsea and get a club in another country where we can send players to in order to get their residency/EU passport thing.

True, he has had his first team manager in place for more than 3 days now. That's more than enough time to have finalised exactly how the team will play, where the gaps are, how much we can spend on each gap and identify the best player within that budget with the required attributes to fill the gap.

The DOF should be signing the players - the managers should have little input into the process.

No, that is doomed to failure, in my opinion.

They should always be working as a team, Benitez says who or what type of player he would like to have and Brands gives him a list of already scouted players or gives the scouting network the details/looks for them himself.

A DoF should be there to take the 'heavy lifting' away from the manager. They concentrate on tactics, coaching, general team management and the DoF concentrates on the scouting network and trying to get a list of suitable players for a final review with the management team.

No idea if it works as smoothly as that but I see it as the logical working style that should be implemented. It will always depend on how much the manager likes or wants to be involved, a Moyes, for example, would probably be involved a lot more in the scouting process.
