It’s so indicative of Everton’s pathetic transfer strategy of the last 5 years. It’s been absolutely abysmal.I see Vlasic is off to Milan for 25 million... We never gave him a chance.

He has such a weird fetish for defenders or it's a odd hobby.
And like Ake he'll hardly play.
Pay £40 million for him I bet and bench him, Peps happy he has another defender anyway in his collect

Lookman to Palace. Possibly.
I see clubs are lining themselves up for him....
Looks like one of them trap rat bullys I see.Potentially world class, he looks very good.
But there's remains a niggling doubt till he does it longer and outside a pub league.
Griezmann for Saul Niguez plus alnything from zero to €15m depending on source
Five year deal for Messi, even at a 50% pay cut, seems mental to me. He'll play two years, leave and Barca will pay up the rest of his contract, meaning it's not even a pay cut but more akin to spreading the payments over five years.
As ridiculously good as he is, given the drama around him, the expense and - critically - his age, I'd have been tempted to cut and run if I were Barca, but I assume they simply don't have the money to replace him and/or reshape the squad.
Mental for the goat
Fortunately you aren’t running any football clubs much less that of Barca. Haters praying for gloom & doom to have it all end in tears
I get that view but ultimately you're going to have to transition to a post-Messi life, and giving him a five year contract that basically pays him on his current insane salary for two and a half years in full is going to financially limit what you can do during that transition.
For me it's short term versus the long term.
