They're lacking in the back 4 too. Injury prone centre halves who are still injured.

The new Spanish kid will have to prove himself too. Defoe is getting on but still potent. And Adebayor is well... Him.

The Bale money will boost them. But I don't think their squad at the moment is something to worry about.

They spend the Bale money well, then they'll be away with the pack.

Paulinho is a bit of an unknown quantity but if he's as good as what I've heard he is then him, Dembele and Sandro could be one of the best centre midfields in the league. Also Chadli will provide them with good width, but I agree they need another winger badly if Bale goes.

I do think they were daft selling Caulker as they've fixed on problem in getting Soldado up front but created another problem when they finally looked like they had a decent set of defenders last season.

But yeah, the Bale money could go a long way and they'd probably be looking to get 2 or 3 top players in.
 

Well Soldado has finally completed his medical. Great news.
However, our immediate (& increasingly urgent) need now is for a CH (or maybe 2). We thought we had that Romanian kid sewn up but the owner threw his toys out the pram so no idea where that deal is now & dont appear to be linked with any others at the moment.

P.S re-Dempsey, remember where you heard it first b). Portland only a stones throw from Seattle lol.

I agree with Mikey though, you're really not far off now especially with the new managers in at 3 of last year's top 4.

If you could keep Bale for another season and add a CB or two then you'd be right up there this season I think.

Getting addicted fella. Cant believe we are so close to a good side & then we sell our one fit CH. Whats that about? JV should be ok for the start of the season hence we can get away with one CH at a push but 2 would be better.
Might see a LB come in (BAE to Inter? watch this space). If another striker comes in then either Ade or Defoe will go.

Still cant decide on Bale. Head says he is 95% gone but heart says 5% chance of one more season.

Heard his name mentioned but no definite links. JV might swing it for us if we go in for him? Who knows.

Who knows? I can only think that AVB didn't rate him or Caulker realised he would be used mostly as back up & wanted more first team football. Given the injuries to JV (s/term,) & Dawson (m/term) it looks like a stupid move from us & even him now.
