He probably was "underpaid" at the end of the day, seeing how Villa's revival seems to revolve around him, but I agree that his behaviour has been a bit rum

To be honest it doesn't surprise me. He definitely deserved a raise after almost singlehandedly preserving their top flight status (whilst considering his previous wage was probably quite low as he wasn't a big name signing at the time). But there were better ways to go about that.
Hard to tell if his agents and what not pushed it, or he is just a bell. It's the modern game though, and when it's your profession you have every right to secure the best possible deal for yourself. But it doesn't hurt to show a bit of gratitude and respect to your employer, when they gave you your break.

Don't want to sound like a conspiracy nut but i feel like there MUST be some illegal transfer of money to individuals/companies happening here. Within the 35 million how much of it goes to agents, managers, families, 3rd-party owners. How much of it has nothing to do with his valuation (cant legitimately be 35m) but rather an opportunity to maybe move some money around for other interests.
Just ridiculous.

These guys are mostly pretty shrewd businessmen- even if they are just throwing millions away above valuation because money is nothing to them- i can't help but feel that its the same agents with the same big deals.
Most of the top talent are managed by only a handful of agents, and these same agents have the real ability to make things difficult if they don't get their backs scratched.
Anyone know where one can possibly find out more details re players' agents?
Gab Marcotti would be a start, but I doubt he would divulge sadly
