I'm fairly sure player of the season awards aren't voted for traditionally. They are merely created when the collective, misguided conscience of the public believes a lie so firmly.
So, if we keep spreading lies about Howard being the Premier League player of the season, we just might be able to coax a foreign team into taking him.
Im also sure player of the season awards are awarded at the end of the season, not in the middle.

It's already been stated he was a very late starter in football and consequently a late bloomer.

Plue the article fails to tell us he scored two goals in three games and was sent back due to a injury. Not a expert on this myself but just another side of the story i suppose......
