I wonder how he'll get in this team at the moment. Good to have strength in depth but 13.5 million a lot to be sitting on the bench. Yes he needs to get fit, but generally can't see who he plays ahead of?

In fact, we "should" be impressed if he's a starter in this team for that price really. I think he will be competing for the Left sided position with Cleverley and that we will sign a forward to compete with lukaku.

He'll spend the next few weeks coming on as a sub for either Clev, Rom or Ross to work on fitness.
His primary role will be front left but also covering any Rom injury/tiredness. In short he's Kone's replacement for next season.

I only saw up until the 65 minute mark because I had to go to work but he looked a deer in the headlights to me, maybe the appalling weather was a big culture shock or he's just really unfit and shouldn't have been playing? Their MOTM really though? Butland single-handedly kept it from being a cricket score.

Lets face it maybe Martinez thought giving him his début in a game that we traditionally are terrible in wasn't the best idea and reckoned that the WBA game at home is a much better fixture to play him in, will be on the bench against WBA i am sure of it.

You would think so, but it's worth spending that just to have an upgrade on Kone. I'm not sure how he'll fit in. It's working well having cleverly on the left at the moment though.
