Martinez now says it will be a "bonus" if he plays again this season.

This is now seriously an egregious use of the club's money.
It will be a bloody bonus if he plays once this season never mind again!

One negative thing I find, because the whole thing is funny otherwise, is that Martinez was given a significant transfer budget for everton and that's what he came back with. Lukaku was a given at his price, McCarthy was a given because he already played hom for 3 years, then niasse can't even play In a reserve game, would you then give him a budget and ask him to buy better quality? Considering he seems to do better buying young unheard of lads for the future instead

Niasse is just a cherry on top of the season for me, and to think I was personally looking forwards to seeing him play.

Everton admit it will be a 'bonus' if Niasse plays in more games this season
Blues signed striker in £13.5m deal in January but he has played less than half an hour

Roberto Martinez admits it will be a “bonus” if Oumar Niasse could feature in Everton’s remaining games this season.

The Blues spent £13.5m on the Lokomotiv Moscow striker in January but Niasse has struggled badly for fitness since joining.

The 25-year-old had last played a competitive game in December and arrived at Goodison with a wrist injury.

Niasse made his Everton debut as a late substitute in the FA Cup win over Bournemouth in late February but has only managed less than an hour of action in total.

Martinez says the striker is putting in “good work” in training but concedes that he is now looking at next season before expecting to see the best from Niasse.

Niasse's apperances to date (all substitute)
February 20, Bournemouth (a) 9 minutes
March 1, Aston Villa (a) 2 minutes
March 5, West Ham United (h) 14 minutes
March 12, Chelsea (h) 1 minute
April 3, Manchester United (a) 3 minutes
TOTAL: 29 minutes

“At the moment, Oumar is adapting well,” said Martinez, who was speaking ahead of the weekend’s game with Southampton.

“The first step was to get rid of the pain in his wrist after the problems that gave him.

“Now is probably the first period that he had 10 days of complete good work and he’s going to get the benefit from it.

“From that to be able to play and to cope with 90 minutes of the demands of the Premier League I think is a very different story.

“Oumar will benefit completely with a pre-season and at the start of next season.

“This campaign is more about getting used to the environment and to get to slowly work towards the physicality of this league.

“If he could play some part of the games it would be a bonus but at the moment it is more of an introduction than the star role he can have.”

Niasse was an unused substitute in Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Southampton and though Martinez says game-time is important for his fitness, he says Everton are entering a crucial period of their season.

“It is a bit of a catch-22 situation, of course you need him to give him games and you need to give him minutes,” Martinez added.

“At this stage of the season you have to be very, very careful in giving players minutes because at the moment we are working towards achieving results and finishing the games strongly so it is a bit of a difficult situation.

“But just by Oumar working with the group and being available and preparing himself towards games is going to help us into that introduction into the British game which is not easy when you come from Russia and have never had a background in this country.”

Just like throwing words at things so by the time you've untangled them all you forget what the question was.

It would have been simpler to say he's not as good as they thought.

Not looking good is it. Not writing him off yet as that's a tad unfair but something is not right about this, lets hope he comes good or we have wasted a sizeable chunk of dough

Them comments are an absolute joke against by Martinez.

We're paying him how much a week to spend 8 months having an introduction to the clublol

Did anyone's work on here let them do nothing for eight months?

If he is using the Russia League as a reason for not adapting as well, then don't buy from the Russian League. It hardly ever pans out right anyway.

When I think back to the way Kendall used to communicate (confident competent reasonable) and then have to listen to this freewheeling idiot, it's actually quite insulting to everybody's intelligence, and I can see why relations with he local media have gone in the bin. And for another statement of the bleedin obvious, if we let this fool spend a monster budget his summer it will be the biggest mistake in the clubs history

Heartbreaking for the lad.

At least he has the compensation of £65000 per week , the love of Pookie and still being able to score regularly.

Think the way this lad is being treated by Martinez is abysmal. If he'd have come on for the second half on saturday we might have a chance to see what he can do.
I bet he would have been far far better than Kone , who quite frankly would struggle to get a game for Fleetwood .He's making a fool of this lad , terrible management.
