The actual worst player to ever don our shirt, that's not even up for debate.
Per Kroldrup disagrees
I don't believe any real players exist in Russia. Every signing from there seems to be massive flop.Displaying rank incompetence in the transfer market seems like it would be damaging, actually. How can we expect to sign Axel Witsel, a real player, from Zenit when we've given Locomotiv 13 million for a pretend player 6 months previously? They probably asked for a billion pounds, on a pro-rata basis.
This isn't a square peg in a round hole situation, like di Maria at Utd or something like that. Or a case of having to deal with shady clubs because you desperately need a proven player. We've shovelled millions of pound into Putin's personal bank account for a player who couldn't get a game in the Norwegian league.
You're right that worrying about our club's transfer dealings is precious behaviour in general, because let's face it - life's too short. This one, though, is just off the scale.
At least he hasn't cost us any points.making Baros look a world-beater was some feat. They can fight it out between themselves then. There's really not much in it, Niasse hasn't contributed anything more positive than Kroldrup did.

OK mate I guess we just see this on different levels of badness. I'd say Bilyaletdinov was an example of a transfer that just didn't work out, and you can't put this fella in the same category as that.
Comes down to the eyeball test really - Witsel has never played in a top league, as you say, but he looks like a footballer whenever I've seen him. Bilyaletdinov was horribly ineffective for us, a bad buy, but clearly a footballer - just one of dem things lad. Little I've seen of Niasse and he looks championship level max - this is supported by two of our managers not even giving him a cup of tea at Goodison (including the one who bought him!)

He did come on against West Ham with 15 minutes to go when we had 10 men, and we effectively lost the game from that exact point.
Not sure that can be pinned solely on him like...
I'd like to see 10 full games before I take Brett Angell out the equation.

No you're right, I pin it solely on our bright, innovative young manager for essentially putting us down to 9 men.
It would be a bit of a struggle to pin our defensive frailty on him.but........He did come on against West Ham with 15 minutes to go when we had 10 men, and we effectively lost the game from that exact point.
