People do realise u23s games are league 2 standard at best?

I think league one standard perhaps on average. With players ranging from Premierleague quality to national league standard and perhaps in some cases lower.

I think if you put the top six sides from Premierleague 2 (the top u23 division) in league one they would finish around the mid table to high lower end of league one

I find it amusing that Niasse's goals for the u23's are used as evidence that he's actually a decent player.
When my son was 5 I used to inflict heavy defeats on him in our togger matches. By the time he was 10 the roles were reversed , with interest.
Moral of the story? We all look better than we are playing against kids, even Niasse.

Or, you are an amazing coach.

Koeman should give him a run, if only to show the current forwards that "I'm at wits end with you all so that I'm now having to play Niasse!!!"

I may be in the minority here, but I think RK has taken the right approach. He saw right away that Niasse was not near the quality for the first team. He told him such, but Niasse chose to turn down a couple of prospective moves which irked RK immensely so he froze him out. He can't and shouldn't cave now.

He's scoring goals in a league of maybe League 1 or 2 quality (if you look at the Checkatrade trophy, 8 out of the 16 invited academies didn't make it past round 1 against league 1 or 2 competition). It's not uncommon for strikers to get 20 goals in the Championship and struggle to get 5 in the Prem, never mind the step up from League 1 or 2. His 7 goals mean nothing from a Prem standpoint as he wouldn't get the time or the room he needs to score. Playing him in the U23's is smart as it will keep interest from lesser leagues alive for January and in the summer.

It'll be good for him to finally go. Never good enough for us but his attitude since Koeman came in has been first rate and he's done well for the 23's. Plenty of other players would have kicked off big time. Hopefully where-ever he goes he does well and gets his career back on track.

Never gonna kick off, on the best money/contract of his life for playing some midweek football with nothing at stake.Made for life probably . Not his fault but he must be ecstatic not unhappy.
