I may be in the minority here, but I think RK has taken the right approach. He saw right away that Niasse was not near the quality for the first team. He told him such, but Niasse chose to turn down a couple of prospective moves which irked RK immensely so he froze him out. He can't and shouldn't cave now.

He's scoring goals in a league of maybe League 1 or 2 quality (if you look at the Checkatrade trophy, 8 out of the 16 invited academies didn't make it past round 1 against league 1 or 2 competition). It's not uncommon for strikers to get 20 goals in the Championship and struggle to get 5 in the Prem, never mind the step up from League 1 or 2. His 7 goals mean nothing from a Prem standpoint as he wouldn't get the time or the room he needs to score. Playing him in the U23's is smart as it will keep interest from lesser leagues alive for January and in the summer.
But why freeze him out? And why do publicly? If he didn't rate him, then fine, but why not just send him to the reserves, and should miracles happen, reconsider his position on him?

All it's done is create unnecessary animosity between player and manager, and effectively eliminate a player from your selection pool. Furthermore, it could potentially impact on future signings, as they may be scared that a bad couple of games could see them quickly banished as well.

I'm struggling to like RK at the best of times, but this affair has been woefully managed imo. For the record, I am NOT proposing Niasse be picked for the team, I'm just talking about player relations here.

He has every right to turn down random moves to the far flung reaches of the world though when he has only just got here.

Don't know about freezing him out, do you honestly think niasse should be on the bench or in the squad? RK was quick to acknowledge what all Everton fans have seen with there own eyes - the player is nowhere near premier league standard. Why waste giving him a place in the premier league squad? Similar to the sakho situation at the RS, klopp doesn't rate the lad hence why he isn't in their squad. Klopp's jusgement isn't being questioned and certainly koeman's shouldn't with regard to niasse.

Klopp's judgement would absolutely be questioned if they were losing all the time. He gets the benefit of the doubt because its not effecting results. Take away their goals yet keep the lack of clean sheets (except against us..typically) and the idiots across the park would be up in arms.

Did Klopp give Sakho a chance? Because if he did and then decided he was crap that is very different then forming a conclusion a player is useless who he has never seen or worked with, besides Klopp is getting it right, unlike Koeman.

For me Niasse hasnt done anything wrong, not being good enough isnt something you can say a player is at fault for if he has at least tried, Koeman should of had a clean slate with all the squad.

I think in time the reasoning for Everton FC to shell out 13m for a player who is frankly awful might come to light.

I think this is quite a dodgy route to take.

He is an international player who was in a good run of form in a decent standard, money rich league.

There is no mystery. The transfer just didnt work out.

Its not even THAT much money in the grand scheme of things. Every club has a deal like this. Some will even have those players at the club still. Why do we think we are any different?

I thought I made that quite clear in my post. It's not about Niasse per se, it's about how Koeman handles his players.

To be fair he played him for one game in pre season.

He hit the post after a half decent run which seems to have been turned into a comedy routine by some.

I know you are talking generally here but in reagrds to specifically Niasse. Is it possible that that bad of a footballer is not the issue here? Is it at all possible that there is a lot more to the story we don't know and the club don't want to make public?

for how quickly he dismissed him and didn't want anything to do with him, i have got to think in that scenario that this isn't based on his footballing ability whatsoever but something much bigger which came to light when he signed, hence why he didn't play for us.

There's always been suggestions of impropriety. Bebe and Utd, for example. Though it feels that way, I just think it was a stupendously Ill-advised transfer, and nothing more.

Probably.

Its been said that he is very raw but does have some ability and athleticism.

I reckon Martinez saw something he could work with to turn him into a proper all round player (hence him saying that he was not a signing to be used straight away) but he never got the chance to do that and Koeman obviously thinks it will take too long etc.

There are loads of reasons as to why its went the way it has. The calls that it was a dodgy deal are quite frankly a bit out of order.

You don't front 13mil on a whim though.

Well another way for me to put it accross is that the fella was accused of GBH back in may. which (whatever happened to that case anyway?), is the first blocks to a much bigger issue.

I mean it was always rumoured about Van De Meyde but no-one knew the extent of it all until afterwards. That was the reason he wasn't playing, not unfit or injured or a bit drunk as we all thought
