Times have changed. Its not that much money.

I wouldnt object if someone offered me it like...
Shifting the goalposts a bit there. It was a huge amount when we signed him.

Summer saw fees skyrocket for whatever reason, but the fact remains the money we spent on Niasse represented a huge sum at the time, especially for a player who was not in high demand and did not require an inflated bid to extricate him.

Well we dont know that do we? He was doing well for Lokomotiv so obviously they would want a good fee for him.

It was a decent amount. Still pretty much par for the course. 10M didnt get you much last year so its a bit more than that. Its obviously more than what he is properly worth but I wouldnt call it an eye watering amount either. In the same window the likes of Lewis Grabban went for 7M, Benik Afobe for 9M. Bily cost 11M from the same club a few years earlier!

You'd think we'd have learned from that one...

But why freeze him out? And why do publicly? If he didn't rate him, then fine, but why not just send him to the reserves, and should miracles happen, reconsider his position on him?

All it's done is create unnecessary animosity between player and manager, and effectively eliminate a player from your selection pool. Furthermore, it could potentially impact on future signings, as they may be scared that a bad couple of games could see them quickly banished as well.

I'm struggling to like RK at the best of times, but this affair has been woefully managed imo. For the record, I am NOT proposing Niasse be picked for the team, I'm just talking about player relations here.

A bit like highlighting McCarthys dodgy hamstrings under a month before the transfer window opens...having tried to sell him in the summer...

I don't think anyone is going to buy him he needs to be given s free, just to get him out,but I I still think we will struggle to get shut.
