Basics are control the ball, pass to a teammate, head the ball, score goals. He looks like he does not have a clue what any of them points are .Did everton send scouts out to watch this guy and if so were they actually looking at the right shirt number. I hope be makes it but early signs are he is hopelessly out of his depth and will be a very very expensive mistake.

Regardless of hiw poor the Russian league may be,this guy got player of the year there playing for one of the unfashionable clubs! Kanchelskis commented in hiw difficult it is for a player outside the elite to achieve that so he must have something there surely?

Plus the premier league has made some world class players look like pub players, e.g. Schevchenko and Morialles? The lad has arrived in the middle of a sh*tstorm between the players, the managers and the fans, and in my opinion at least deserves a pre-season before we turn on him!

Oh I'm sure you did Deggo seeing as you know everything. I bet you probably also scouted Zlatan Ibrahimovic at Malmo and tipped Ajax off about his potential ability.

P.S. I wish I was Roberto, earning 50k a week to do nowt. Living the dream.
Oh I don't know everything.....well it's close

However I do have eyes and Niasse is no premier league player and no amount of pre season training will make him one

its funny how quick everton fans are to write off a player

he'll probably score 5 goals against liverpool next season and still get slagged off.

Its just a dumb football thing, probably the same at every club.

New player. Starts badly. The fuming masses bay for blood.

A new player joining in January especially should be given time to make his mark. We wont know much of him until next season. Jelavic is the opposite example of this. Hits the ground running before slowly getting worse and worse and disappointing us all.

Thats not to say a new manager wont come in, judge him not up to it, or not suited to what they want, and get rid. Could be...I've no idea, but christ its tedious the absolute rage when a new signing doesn't look very good from day one.

Another
Russian (league)
Superstar
Evertonian

2016 award winner. Following in the giant steps of 2 times winners Aiden McGeady and Bily. Jo won it once as well.

The fans can see it.Yet our manager couldn't see it when he put down 13 million quid for this guy.We were badly duped on this deal.Getting rid of Naismith for this guy.One of the silliest pieces of business in Everton history.

Roman Eremenko was the player of the year in the Russian league in 2014-2015. End of.

Sell: He has no chance at this point...would take a Vardy like consecutive scoring run to turn the tide against him at this point.

The judgement is in and he is not good enough apparently.

No mate he just needs time. Honestly the signs are promising, give him a full pre season and at least 20 starts. There's a player in there somewhere, honest

funny you should mention thierry henry

when he joined arsenal he had scored only scored 3 goals in 16 games for juventus. he was also signed for 11 million which back in 1999 raised alot of eyebrows.

he also failed to score in his first 8 games at arsenal

the irony is you insult my intelligence yet you don't even know those facts lol

THIERRY HENRY HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

For about the 27th time in this thread, Niasse did NOT win Player of the Year in Russia. He won a couple of Player of the Month awards, for his club.

I can see on Russian sites that he won a couple of player of month awards, but seems odd it is so widely reported that he has Player of year award.

It's not that though.

It's not that he's just had a bad patch; it's that he looks actually awful at football.

For example, as bad as McGeady is, he can still somewhat play football, so you can't accuse him of not being a footballer.

With Niasse? Honestly I've not seen much to convince me he actually is one.

So I don't think the reaction to Niasse is dumb at all - it's one of genuine, understandable confusion at how we can pay close to £14m on someone who looks like a pub player could run rings around. You can say he needs a pre-season etc. and I did agree with that at first, but he's been four months now, has had a bit of game time, and I don't think you need a pre-season to understand the basics of football. None of what we've seen thus far can be put down to just being rusty; it really does look like he doesn't know how to play football, not that he's rusty or just inconsistent at it.
