Oumar Niasse

I really do think that someone should stand-up and be counted: Who recommended Oumar Niasse as a player for Everton. I think the fee was £13M, that, not long ago would have been a club record. I suppose Martinez will get the blame, when it is more likely to have been a slip of the pen by Blatter or Platini at head office?

I have a theory about the signing of Niasse, but its pure fiction(I hope) Would have to post on here as if it were a fairy story and completely untrue. Which as far as I know it is. Suffice to say the cast list includes Sir Phil Green, Chairman Willie, Senor Phenomenal, and someone in Russia. ...........

Personally i think this deal is not as conspiracy led as people want to believe.

How about this as a situation. Martinez wanted yarmalenko, someone had told him the club were negotiating still about him so Roberto was essentially expecting that deal to go through. Then when Kiev finally said 'not for sale' martinez panicked. He knew he had the money available and league wise we were struggling but had no idea who to then bring in as a replacement. He coudln't go without a new signing yet there wasn't many options for that price range.

So he panicked and went for Niasse. Probably through his agent, or a friend of a friend sort of situation, he was told he was good, perhaps scouts had the odd report saying his could be good so martinez took a huge gamble.

and when a desperate everton were suddenly asking about Niasse, his team upped the price and on good faith the club paid it for him thinking he was going to be a great signing found by the manager,

If koeman can manager to turn Shane long into half a premier league player I'm sure he can maybe do something with niasee... Maybe?

Who am I kidding no one can help him

The thug I was told regarding the deal was that we were trying for another striker for a few weeks but it ended up falling through and we were given the opportunity to sign niasse on the advice of the now dismissed Kevin Reeves and a third party agency who I doubt we will use again.

We panicked and ended up signing him for a large fee because they had us over the barrel and Martinez was taking a massive chance to save his job.. which failed.

Apparently we had actually been offered him a few weeks before for half the price and weren't interested because of our other target at the time

But it's happened now we just have to deal with it either sell him or keep him and try and improve him over pre season into a squad player

Also with Troy Deeney quoted at over £20million, same for Callum Wilson, We probably tried to steal a march on clubs by signing a highly rated player from a foreign league (player of the year in Russia), for half of that hoping that he would fit in and save us a fortune.
It was a gamble that has not paid off, but this summer £13m will be like paying £2m a decade ago due to the over inflated market and TV deal.
Koeman will get a chance to have a look at what he can offer, afterall nearly everyone was playing below par at the time, but more than likely he will be sold for a loss and we move on.

Run like a circus, no wonder the club had so many on an NDA.
Someone in China will take him surely.

I think our situation with this fella is similar to Liverpool's with Balotelli. We don't want him but nobody will take him off us for a fee anywhere close to the money we spent on him in the first place so our options are limited. Koeman will probably try to ship him out somewhere on loan with a clause in there that if he nets a certain amount of goals or plays in a certain amount of games that they'll agree to buy him for a set fee. Just can't foresee him having any sort of role here next season, he's that bad.
