Also with Troy Deeney quoted at over £20million, same for Callum Wilson, We probably tried to steal a march on clubs by signing a highly rated player from a foreign league (player of the year in Russia), for half of that hoping that he would fit in and save us a fortune.
It was a gamble that has not paid off, but this summer £13m will be like paying £2m a decade ago due to the over inflated market and TV deal.
Koeman will get a chance to have a look at what he can offer, afterall nearly everyone was playing below par at the time, but more than likely he will be sold for a loss and we move on.

Didn't he just win one website poll?

Could you imagine if he actually DID look a completely different and capable player after a proper preseason and some actual fitness work?

Not sure if lack of fitness means you don't look capable of trapping a ball, or a 5 yard pass. I get the feeling he'll be put under pressure straigh away, and shipped out on loan before the season starts if he still looks absolutely useless.

The standard of the Russian national team should be a stark warning never to trust the performance of a player coming from that league, it's clearly very avarage. The mental thing is his goals per game ratio wasn't even that good in the Russian league was it?

I have a theory about the signing of Niasse, but its pure fiction(I hope) Would have to post on here as if it were a fairy story and completely untrue. Which as far as I know it is. Suffice to say the cast list includes Sir Phil Green, Chairman Willie, Senor Phenomenal, and someone in Russia. ...........

...so, once upon a time, there was this bloke, who owed another bloke lots of money, and the second bloke, who was probably going to lose lots of his money, naturally wanted it back, particularly because the first bloke would not have access to his way of paying back for much longer. So these two blokes devised a scheme were a footballer was bought for much more than he was worth, and the money owed to the second bloke was taken somehow from this excessive transfer fee and finished up in the second blokes account, via a dodgy Russian, the British Virgin Islands and the second blokes wife. And they all lived happily ever after.

I also think Niasse was the proverbial straw that broke the camels back for the squad's perception of Martinez, his arrival at the training ground and apparently shocking everyone with how bad he is must have triggered the 'we really are going nowhere fast if this is the managers idea of reinforcements' thinking process, and lo and behold we stunk the gaff out of it ever since he arrived... not that we were smelling of roses beforehand, but seems to me we really really obviously downed tools after the signing of Oumar the terrible

If the players thought Niasse was that poor he must have been uber-bad....bear in mind they'll have watched Lukaku trying to control a ball for a few years with limited success and Anichibie trying to do anything remotely connected with football.
