2017/18 Oumar Niasse

I once said that I had played against better center forwards in the county comb back in the 70s, how wrong was I. He is unconventional, but, he has something. He will never be an elegant player and his first touch is poor, but, he is quick, unpredictable and he knows where the goal is.

On another note, his classy handling of his treatment by Koeman demonstrates the strength of character of the man. In his situation I would have found it impossible not to gloat when Koeman was sacked.

Does anyone think that starting with Niasse and Sandro could actually be the way forward? Their pace and pressing could be perfect on the counter. I don't think that combo has been tried yet and unfortunately Sandro is in danger of going the same way as Niasse did initially. He is like our version of Okazaki, but actually scores goals!! Just think it could solve a lot of the problems with the squad imbalance and be the magic formula...

Anyone else think that's a very subtle dig at Koeman

If it was anyone else then I would say yes.

But Oumar does not seem the type of fellow have sly digs at someone, no matter how justified and how tempting.

I think he was just stating a fact.....Unsie took him under his wing and helped him get over the humiliation and bullying he suffered at Koeman’s hands.

How come when Oumar has a bad first touch it’s because he’s rubbish despite the fact he scores goals yet when Rom was called out on his bad first touch it was apparently more than ok because he scored goals.

I think it was the fact that when he first came, Niasse seemed to struggle with not falling over and generally kicking the ball in the right direction ?

Lukaku does it to a much higher level. And I'm no Lukaku fan, but he's a tremendous goalscorer - whereas Niasse is an acceptable one. That, and Lukaku had the capability of running a ball with explosive power and craft goals out of nothing on the counter on his own; Niasse doesn't have that.
