A yellow card if it's spotted or a two match ban if it isn't, it's a really bizarre rule. Also why this incident ?There's simulation every week. Anyway we have to take our medicine now I just really doubt we'll see any big players done for this.

There are 3 ex players on the " diving panel ", they are Terry Butcher, Scott Dixon and ...Danny Murphy. Danny Murphy tbh knows all about diving from his Liverpool fc days.

oh nice so an ex RS player decides whether an Everton player should be banned, sounds fair enough. Whos Scott Dixon anyway, chairman of the YNWA fan boy club?

It is sad that this is the 1st case to be taken under consideration. May it lead to justified bans in the future. All hell will break loose if these aren't judged accordingly from now on.

Before the Independent Regulatory Commission made their descion there are two steps taken

The first is that the FA disciplinary team will have looked at the video evidence and formed a view that there appears to be case to answer.

The next step is that all that video evidence is viewed by three of the ex elite referees they will say if in their opinion there is a case to answer. It’s worth noting that those three ex refs make their descion without the knowledge of who the other two are. All three have to agree that there appears to be an offence

If all three ex refs all agree a charge is laid and the player is invited to make any representations they may wish.

The last step is that a commission made up of an ex player, ex ref and an ex manager sit and form an opinion based on the submissions and video evidence.

It is what it is...trying to make an example out of someone who hasn't got the player power to cause enough of a storm or hurt the league brand by them or their club throwing a massive fit.

It's the FA's version of taxing the middle class.

I said it the other day and I meant it - if I were Niasse, I'd sue for defaming his character.

Other top teams I have seen this season players dive - when no one was near them pen not given surely thats where the bans should be dished out not just a yellow card, but a red card?
Which opens the debate of video evidence there and then to help the Ref!

The point is that when a penalty is given they have successfully deceived the referee. When the ref spots it and gives a yellow no potential game changing incident comes about as a consequence

The irony is and illustrated beatutifly by this incident is that even after dozens of video repeats there is still no consensus regarding the awarding of the penalty.

Football really is about opinions and having seen the limits of video referees I personally still think there will be significant issues and really do fear the delays that are inevitable when you take descions off the pitch and in particular when goals are scratched off for an incident ex number of seconds before the goal was scored

Thanks for that detailed explanation. Only problem that I have with the process is that it probably won't get past step 1 for the Sky favourites.

I've said it before. If they really want to stop cheating, by all means give it a go. Deceiving the ref shouldn't just be about game changing penalty incidents, how about players rolling round in agony when there's obviously been no contact, trying to get a fellow pro sent off? Arguably, that's a worst offence than last weekend. And it's something that is witnessed most weeks. An innocent player potentially getting a 3 game ban. We've seen red cards rescinded but the real instigator doesn't get punished for the OTT reaction. That should be as much, if not more a pressing concern than what we've seen this week.
