This "Panel" will have to recruit loads more experienced ex something's now - wont they?

If we as mere football supporters and watchers see worse examples of this "Normal contact" every time we attend a game or turn on the telly, surely they can!

They're going to be very busy if they claim to be impartial.

So they admit contact but say it was exagerated. Erm yeah right. This is Oumar Niasse we are talking about. These muppets are completely unaware that the player they are ruling this nonsense on regularly falls over when running with the ball even if there is nobody around him. It is one of the reasons why most thought he was crap when he first came. He doesn't even need a nudge to fall over dramatically. Even a slight touch while he is trying to dribble past a couple of men could make him fall over. Left themselves wide open anyway with their ridiculous ruling. I expect them to be very busy from now on as there will be complaints going in practically every single match now. The more the merrier for me. No common sense to be found by any of them. Just read a book merchants.

Every decision can and will be skewed for the elite financially doped clubs.

What a step forward for the game.

Surely UEFA can step in here and slap this down as bringing the game into even more disrepute?
Haha! Dave, read what you have just writtennthe mate! You are calling on UEFA to save the reputation of the game :)

Yes.....there is a whole can of worms waiting to be opened here.

Say a fellow is not fouled and does not claim a penalty but the referee mistakenly blows and awards one anyway.

What happens then?

If the fellow whom was awarded the penalty just accepts it then is he to be deemed as having tried to "fool the referee" by not going over and telling the ref he is mistaken?[/QUOTE

I am not quite sure there is any relevance to claiming a penalty. A player goes over and a penalty is awarded the question is did he exaggerate the contact etc.

Just reflect there are on average two penalties in the PL each game week. A significant % of those are for handball and whilst I haven’t been able to verify it’s a ratio of 2-3 in favour of fouls so the total number of penalties they would have looked at is around 15.
I looked very quickly at those awarded to Man City and indeed Leicester and yes I think two of Man Cities would justify a second look but none of Leicester’s were remotely questionable.

This rule change was called for by English Football so I can’t see it being changed or abandoned any time soon.

If a goal is scored from the penalty it cannot be late withdrawn by the committee.

The significance of "claiming" the penalty is that it reinforces the attempt to deceive the referee.

in fact, there should be a more severe punishment for a fellow whom claims after diving rip than for one whom doesn't.
