2017/18 Oumar Niasse

They only ruled him guilty because

A: He is an easy target. His team is struggling, and he hasn't built enough of a reputation to dispute the call
B: They wanted to establish precedent without causing a rift in the top six.

I'm sorry- it's a daft ruling whether you agree with the call or not. I didn't think it was a penalty, but Dann was clumsy and technically impeded Oumar.

The decision should be as simple as reviewing the incident, if there's no contact what so ever and the players goes down, that's a ban, if there any contact at all whether a trip, nudge, push then it shouldn't be a ban. Just make it simple and have a bit of common sense, why do things have to be made so difficult nowadays.

What a mess the fa have made of this! So the ref stood by his decision, which means it wasn’t ‘successful deception’ at all.

They’re saying he exaggerated the contact, but Richarlison and B Silva didn’t earlier in the season?!

Utterly ridiculous!

Sadly the ban wasn't just for niasse but it was for our attack as well.

Pre niasse we struggled to shoot, the minute he started games the goals came . Can't see how we can magically ignore that.

Plus with unsworth dropping everyone on a whim to shoe horn in the reserves the minute Southampton score on Sunday we will capulate and offer nothing in return

They have made total idiots out of themselves by admitting and acknowledging that there was contact and that the ref had again stood by his decision afterwards so obviously was not deceived in his view. There is no way anyone can know how even a tiny nudge can effect a player that is running and dribbling and particularly someone like Niasse who is prone to tumbling even when nobody is near him. The guy scores goals whilst being horizontal sometimes. Crystal clear case of FA incompetence and Corruption. Picked on a non English player who is barely heard of and who plays for a club that is struggling. It is disgraceful and i hope it bites them up the arse now and they get inundated with reports and complaints.

Wonder what the difference between those players and Niasse is....

I am guessing if we appealed they'd add an extra game on for a frivolous appeal? The whole episode is a joke. Just hoping Sandro can bang in a few in his absence

I suppose we could have appealed it right up to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, (seeing the original was rejected by the FA) but that would probably make us very unpopular with the powers that be, meaning we will probably always get drawn against the strongest teams in cup competitions, have a run of almost impossible fixtures and have frivolous charges brought against our players...Hang on! Do you think we have already peed them off at some point??

That is a good point.

If the referee is “standing by his decision”, presumably having watched the incident back himself, what the heck is Oumar being subjected to this ignominy for?

By taking the action they have taken they are as good as calling the referee incompetent.

Is he reffing in the lower leagues as a punishment this week?

I know Chris Sutton isn’t our favourite pundit round these parts but I watched a recording of the Atalanta game today and he is scathing about what he calls the “Diving Panel”.

Whether the decision to rub Niasse out for two matches was correct or not doesn't matter now. What's done is done.

There have been many similar incidents before and there will be many more from now on, and when I say many I mean
hundreds. How will the FA deal with them?

We can excuse a few slipping through the net, but from now on every incident similar to this one must be referred to and looked at by the panel, and with a precedent having been set there is no room for the judgement and penalty to be different.

It's going to be very interesting.

That time Moyes took video tapes to them of a dozen penalty shouts WE SHOULD have had that season, that they, the fa, agreed to (most anyway). Made no difference. No wait, we got our first pen of the season in the last 10 mins of the last game, or something.

Corrupt as hell this game. Really don't know why we all bother.
