was looking for that clearance over the top or to slip past the right back but there was ZERO quality to our balls out of defence
even Pickford was terrible

He and DCL should never be on the pitch at the same time unless we are taking the game to the opposition. That whole "lob the ball up and hope it sticks" strategy didn't work at all as neither can stand on their own with no support.

Nobody could. You could put Messi up top and he wouldn't do a thing with how we set up/played.

I get the logic, a pacy bloke and a tall bloke to get onto a long ball but our passing was terrible. Unless Niasse and DCL are allowed to play the ball from the stands then I don't see what anybody would expect them to do.

I hope Niasse gets a chance to impress in the weeks to come and that he does so.

What's more likely is that a bigger name will come in January and he'll remain a squad player.

Think he's gone end of season. 5-10m.
Sandro gone for 5m maybe in Jan.
New striker in January, another one in the summer, and DCL in the squad too. Should be enough.

I don't think we've seen the best of him yet. Shame the suspension had held back his development. Certainly capable of scoring screamers from outside the box. If he does this then hopefully the negateers will be silenced.

Agreed, the ban didn't help...his form might have suffered for it and unfortunately he didn't get the start today. Hopefully we will see him as an impact sub. I think he is quite good and just needs more playing time to prove himself. I really don't understand all the he is championship level quality at best comments. He is our team's 2nd leading scorer and #1 scorer till Rooney scored his hat trick.

If we want to get anywhere as a club he should be possibly our 3rd choice.

Because he’s scored a couple does not making him a shoe in for an ambitious Everton going forward.

Steven Naismith was a grafter and a far better football player, doesn’t mean we should resign him.

Strikers like Naismith are judged on their ability to score goals. The strike rate from Niasse is far superior to Naismith's. Naismith managed to scored 18 goals in 103 games compared to Niasse's five goals in just 12 appearances.
