2017/18 Oumar Niasse

He could not play because he was LACKING A KNEE.

How much more clear can I make this?

He went to Doncaster to get some match fitness, he could not even withstand that, not because of any lack of ability but because his knee was not up to it.

It's not an abysmal deal at all because it meant NOTHING in the grand scheme of things. Absolute zero. The was no risk and the small chance of a big reward.

You hatred of Martinez on this one is totally messing your thought process. If we were talking about Alcaraz or something (Another sick note but one who was brought in for the first team not a bloke brought in to gain some fitness on a trial) then I could understand where you are coming from. Your opinion on this one though is just really really weird.

Alright then you answered that yourself so why on earth the fool handed him a contract even as you claimed he was lacking a knee or his knee was not up to it? No matter what he took resources from the club and bearing in mind his atrocious injury records, it was an abysmal deal because there was literally zero point of signing him. It was October/November that year and no club was silly enough to give him a contract except the fool. 30 games in 6 full seasons before that he was a proven crock.

He scored five in a relegation team in the prem - not just the under 23s where he was scoring hat tricks - he came here with an injury - he had personal problems in which I feel he never got a locker - He looks far better than Kone who we released for nothing!

He scored 5 in 19 appearances - that isn't exactly what I would call setting the world on fire. It's a just about acceptable strike rate for an average striker. Considering his form for us, it's actually impressive that he managed that.

I really hope you're not seriously using his goals at U23 level as a reason he should play - you'll be aware of the multitude of examples anyone could give you as counter-arguments. And I would expect a £13.5m 27 year old striker to score a few against the kids to be honest, even if he isn't good enough for the 1st team.

End of the day, two successive managers have disagreed with you and the manager who took him on loan last season hasn't tried to sign him either

Sigh...it was a minimal contract, he was not on 20k a week or something. Pay as you play deal to see if he could offer anything. He was signed as a reserve player to see if he could recover any kind of form which he showed in Brazil and in the very limited amount of game time he got in la Liga (again due to injury)

I should watch League one more.

I really don't think he's a good player but at this rate he is going to get games, both because he's in the shop window and needs advertising, as well as the fact that we literally don't have the bodies to put up front. Calvert-Lewin absolutely cannot play every game, Rooney plays off the striker and apparently so far off the striker that he has the time to crack open a few tinnies, Sandro desperately needs time and zero pressure to get up to speed (which he doesn't have at all) and Mirallas can maybe play through the middle at a push.

What else can we feasibly do but accept that Niasse is 4th choice? I think the sooner we accept it, the less painful it will ultimately be and maybe we can get behind him?

I honestly don't think he will ever play for us again regardless of who is available.

Papa we are just wasting our time here. We can't convince each other on this issue but thanks for keeping the conversation civil. Perhaps we just shake hands and walk away. I know what you wanted to say. Getting an unknown injury prone player hoping we hit the jet pot. Only that the chance was extremely slim.

Should entertained any offers for him, loan bids, anything over £6m, large chunk of money wasted till we get another chance to get shot in January.

For the sake of his career he really needs to get shut of his current agent? Niasse should have signed for Palace yesterday.

Ok you don't like him , but he is a striker and we have not got many of them!

I think, all things considered, he may rank as the worst signing this club has ever made

But - you're right, he IS a striker, and we are lacking in that area. If we exhaust all other viable options, I'm not against him playing but by "all other viable options" I mean Sandro, DCL, Rooney, Mirallas and anyone else on the fringes of the 1st team who might be able to play up front.
