Goodison was never built to provide 100% seating & it showed when I went on the Ground tour ....A great collection of pics. When I stood in the Gwladys in the 70s to early 90s, I nearly always stood under the stand. That's where the atmosphere was, and it could be deafening under there at times..... and of course much warmer in the winter months too. If standing you could pick your position to avoid any or most obstructions..... even when packed. Been in there many times since it was seated too, but not the same atmosphere nowadays. Mind you, I think it held almost 15k downstairs then.
That is the prime location in the street end. The bogs and food kiosk never really have queues, plus you can get food/drink and watch the match. Down the steps to the right you're straight out the ground as well with little hold upA few from the very back of the street end at yesterdays women's derby.

How do they get away with selling those seats every game?A few from the very back of the street end at yesterdays women's derby.

You can actually see both goals if everyone is sat down, albeit the view is like looking through a letterbox. The problem is, in that area of the ground people mostly stand so the view is horrific. How do they get away with selling those seats every game?
As far as I know they don't.Do they serve ale at that kiosk at the top?
No grounds were designed to be all seater before the 90s. Most had less than 20k seats before then, some had a pitful number of seats. At the same time, Goodison has had the least spent on it in the last 30yrs of practically all football league and premiere grounds.Goodison was never built to provide 100% seating & it showed when I went on the Ground tour ....
Standing on those wooden floors at the top tier of the Gwladys street was a joy though, plus the pre match singing, chanting started so early back then - both sets of fans filled the ends to joyous chanting .... a great atmosphere back then ... even before Kick off - you cant replace that era ....No grounds were designed to be all seater before the 90s.
