It is weird. He really does go for him - it's Souness/Pogba like. Neutrals pick up on it on Twitter - particularly the Arsenal game as I linked.

A match commentator doesn't, or at least shouldn't call a player a s**thouse and "awful, he really is awful". It's personal attacks, and repeated.
 
There are still Siggy fans on this forum, or at least those who seem to still believe he might come good again and justify his huge transfer fee. I was one but have given up on him. Carlo has a massive job to fix this midfield issue.

Why though? Everyone buzzes off Roy Keane going in on United players.

Neville absolutely has the right to go in on Sigurdsson. He’s earning more than Neville ever did in his career and puts in half-arsed non displays more or less every single week. There should be more people in the media calling him out in front of the world, he’s been getting away with it for too long. He’s an absolute disgrace.
 
Our CM is absolutely the problem, it is embarrassing how unathletic and soft we are, and that doesn't even address the lack of creativity and goal creation. I'd keep Gomes and Davies around as squad players, but we really need 2 CMs this summer. A creator and a physical presence (which Gbamin was suppose to be, but he's crocked). Hell I'd even just take two aggressive physical types at this point. I'm just sick of watching this team play so gutlessly.

I think he's a prick, personally. Faux outrage, but it pays his bills and Sky love it don't they? They need it, as long as people are talking about their product, they remain relevant. It's why they ensured they had Neville and Carragher...

You can criticise and critique without being personal though. Live, match day commentators, in my view, shouldn't be calling specific players awful. Sure, critique the performance (to a level, they should be describing first) but Neville is personal on Sigurdsson - against Arsenal, it wasn't the performance he was criticising, it was the player. "He's awful, he really is".

He didn't put in a challenge yesterday and it's all Neville banged on about (conveniently missing Iwobi...) - because of a dislike for Sigurdsson, it's poor commentary and doesn't add to the game.

But all this is away from the thread topic, really.

You only have an issue with it because you like Sigurdsson. If he’d called Iwobi awful you wouldn’t be saying anything.
 
I think the commentator comments on the game, the ex-pro is there to give a critique and analysis of what’s happening on the pitch. I don’t think Neville was out of order, I agree with what he said and maybe it will speed up the Icelandic sloth out of the team.
