A figure that has dropped drastically since he came here, as well as his goal and set piece stats. He's not a centre mid at the end of the day, yes he's underperformed, and that includes in gis natural position. But we bought 3 centre mids this summer and we hoped that position was fixed, granted we've been hard done by with injuries to all 3.
Siggy doesn't fit our system that's clear, but I'm more concerned about our actual centre mids that are toothless and doing nothing.
Our midfield mirrors our fanbase.

By a distance, the weakest part of our squad. We have less pressing concerns in other areas sufficient that all near term efforts should be focused on moving on near all of our midfield options with a view to sourcing 4-5 replacements. Gordon and Gbamin each get a pass as new but pretty much the entire rest need to be released/sold/loaned in the most expedient means possible. They are collectively an anchor to the ambition of the team, finances of the club and mentality of the fans.
Bernard, Sigurdson, Iwobi, Walcott, Besic, Davies, Bolasie and sadly Gomes too. Not a tackle among them. They have all had umpteen opportunities at this point. The work required here is immense and the financial cost will likely be punitive given their fees. Fixable but a big job.

He is the best of our midfielders imo. The problem is his cost and the fact that he will leave on a free next year, having cost 20 million in the first place. I'd rather we upgrade with Willian on a free transfer, so his wages can go on someone else.

Beni Averagerme hasn't played a professional game of football in 3 years and yet people want to stick him in our midfield.
Well you are wrong, cos its been utter crap since 2014 when we had Barry and McCarthy, that was the last good midfield we had.

Gueye being so good at what he did, despite being limited on the ball, made up for the failings of our other CMs.
Was the same with McCarthy too in his first 2/3 seasons at the club.
We defo need a CM who can do a bit of both because over reliance on one guy to do the dirty work has really come back to haunt us this season.

Gomes is a player who can dictate the game when he is afforded the protection of someone like Gueye, he's more the type to assist the assister as much as I hate saying that. Playing in a 2 puts the onus on him more to defend, and having only either Davies or Sigurdsson to play with really highlights his defensive deficiencies.
