I’m just not sure what the recruitment philosophy has been with CM. Besic at least seemed to have an engine/power. Why was he shipped out? I know he’s not great but if he ever got close to his form back then he’s easily our best pairing with Gomes. We have crabs in midfield and that’s the problem. Sheffield United just overpowered Spurs and they have a team almost exclusively of championship level players.

The sad thing is, even this bunch can have a go when they want to. Remember the Chelsea game when Ferguson had put a rocket up their arse? Where's that gone? Just because Ancelotti has asked them to be a bit more disciplined positionally doesn't mean they can't make tackles. It's all attitude.

In essence, our big midfield signings have been iwobi, bolasie and sigurdsson, and most of us were pretty sceptical about signing any of them at the time.

We could have and should have bought better each of these times.
