Panorama to question ownership of Everton

This Panorama: I really hope that sanctimonious turd David Conn doesn't tip up with commentary.

He's been a hypocrite of the first order on this Everton investment in the past.

He worked for the corrupt Mansours writing a book that placed them in a very favourable light. They've twisted and turned the rule book pages to get investment into City. He describes thm though as "stewards". I'll go 'kin bananas if that feller is putting the boot into Everton. I have a strong feeling that he will be interviewed too.

A realistic projection.

How would you react as an investor holding their institutions money to calls from Moshiri to back our stadium project?

Would you:

A) listen carefully and commit
or
B) not entertain the notion at all

At this level Dave, you would ask could he deliver, which given he now has Usmanov behind him is a much more likely yes.

Lets be frank here, any investment is not going to be coming from orthodox sources is it?

I can't get the surprise at all of this. I am amazed this wasn't looked at around the FF deal. Everyone knew was was happening, the BBC are 18 months too late.

Interesting this, Dave. Conn has an almost untouchable rep in sports-journo circles.

Investigations take time. Now we are hearing the conclusions of it. I doubt the PL will simply ignore this matter, it involves two large PL teams.

This stadium financing has major headlights on it. It will be scrutinised every step of the way if it gets off the ground. The steel for it would also likely have come via Metalloinvest. That complicates matters and further brings into focus the Usmanov relationship with EFC.

Investors get very nervous around any suggestion of investigations.

It's the last thing in the world the BMD project needed that's for sure.

His book was serialised in the Observer a few years back. Unctuous doesn't begin to describe it.

He has no credibility after that as a journalist looking to shine a light on bad governance practice in "the Beautiful Game".

God forgive me for saying this, but my biggest fear from this, is that we could end up like Rangers. That would be the worst case scenario.

I know where you are coming from and an even bigger worry is that despite them being busted down a few leagues, the are not disliked by the Scottish Football authorities. Imagine if they were, what would have happened to them?

This is where we come in, we know we have never been flavour of the month within the FA, media or any other of those circles.

Indeed, it's in those circles (Obs/Graun) where he has the biggest rep. I find your take on him interesting as it indirectly posits a theory that I've been thinking about lately: namely that dirty money will only get found if it wants to (i.e. journos only get to chase what they are allowed to chase).
