Panorama to question ownership of Everton

We aren't officially owned by that power in the game, we're a once removed peripheral part of someone's empire who cant be seen to get involved with us and lobby our case with the game's authorities.

There's a world of difference.

You were talking about a supposed loss of credibility, I was giving you a meaningful comparable.

This will be yesterdays news by the end of the week.

So you;re confident then that we'll get the investment to see a stadium built? That this is non-damaging to our prospects?

The funding vehicle for the stadium has nothing to do with who may or may not be whispering in Moshiri's ear.

Underwriters don't base their judgement calls on tittle tattle, it's all about risk and reward, the numbers will dictate the funding, and given that LCC are underwriting it, then it won't be an issue.

People care that an organisation is owned by the name above the door.

If it's not then it looks extremely suspicious.

We're wounded by this association....it'll be constantly brought up and it'll dog are every financial move now.

The BBC have raised an issue about whether or not an Arsenal shareholder owns Everton. Legally, Moshiri owns the club, well a large part of it, and legally, unless some other piece of paper exists that says otherwise, Usmanov has no legal claim upon our club. It is possible that Moshiri may owe Usmanov money, but that still would give Usmanov no direct claim over Everton. If any money was a ‘gift’ or a ‘performance payment’ in the past then providing appropriate taxation has taken place, there is no issue. This is gutter level journalism aimed at teenagers.

Rather than being ‘wounded’ by any association with Moshiri, I would suggest the exact opposite and suggest that any association, unless illegal, strengthens our perceived financial clout.

I hope Moshiri and Usmanov sue the crap out of the BBC........

Maybe, maybe not.

What will linger on though is the perception.

Everton run by a puppet. A dodgy figure pulling his strings.

Not exactly a great image when you're looking for credibility is it?

I agree with you there mate as a brand i think it does have an impact, but i dont think its significant. That said in the commercial world i believe the ethos is to publicly look good but make as much money as you can if Everton become marketable as a commercial entity and at the moment we are not, then i expect greed to take over really. We also have a lot of good to be associated with EITC etc. Fundamentally if no law or regulation is broken its just mud that will stick in the very short term, thankfully football as an industry and those who sponser it have very short term memories when it comes to turning a bob and where there is money to be made there will always be noses at the trough.

Sponsors are tripping over themselves to sponsor Chelsea and Arsenal despite their shareholding.

I don't think there is any smoking gun here but to be in any way associated with such an investigation aired on what is close to prime-time on the national broadcaster, cannot be good for the club in the eyes of potential future commercial and business partners.

Simply nothing good can emerge from it.

Some balance would be appropriate though, both in relation to other clubs murky practices and also by way of recognition of the marvellous work done by EITC.

But it is about who turned up on those stolen papers. Nothing on Abramovich, Glazers, Fenway Group, Kroenker, Etihad. It just so happens we copped it. The programme was purportedly about people putting their vast fortunes abroad to avoid tax but this angle was never raised in the Moshiri/Usmanov portion of the programme.

Looking for credibility from who? Wealthy investors? dont worry, those types are far too busy working on there own dodgy deals to waste time watching the BBC. We dont need credibility, none of the top clubs right now are even slighty credible, if you want to stay credible welcome to mediocrity
