Panorama to question ownership of Everton

of course the links are obvious
It’s been stated on here numerous times that if Usmanov can’t get control of Arsenal he will sell up and more than likely buy Everton.
That’s been blindingly obvious from day one.
Why did Moshiri only buy 49% of the club.
He is merely paving the way.
The Liver building purchase is just Moshiri getting Usmanovs office for the Liverpool waters scheme in place.
However these lads didn’t become billionaires by making uninformed decisions on a whim.
There was always a long term plan A and a Plan B C and probably D as well

I like your blurb and hope it comes down to that.

I think if I were the City auditor Id be looking long and hard at this. Consider the turn of events since this SPV idea was put forward:

  • The architect of the plan, Joe Anderson, has been all but marginalised in his own party in the region. His relations with the new City Region tier of local government a complete mess...due to his own antics about wanting to jump ship and be supremo of that body; his relationship with other councillors and MPs of the region is on the floor due to his bleating about being overlooked for the Walton seat
  • The council CEO who was directly working on the details of the SPV plan with Everton Ged Fitzgerald has lost his job in a procurement scandal that he carried over with him from a previous post at Lancashire CC.
  • An investigation has been aired by the national broadcaster that places a huge question mark over who exactly controls Everton FC.
Now, if you were responsible in the council for oversight of this BMD stadium scheme would you be sanguine over the issues above or would you be inclined to at least call a halt to the proceedings to make sure the council and rate payers of the city weren't stumbling over a cliff agreeing to what Anderson and Fitzgerald had concocted along with Everton FC?

At this point in time there is no doubt who controls Everton but typically you like to resort to dubious speculation with no hard facts to back your view. Can never understand why you are so negative in your posts you seem to take pleasure in every little innuendo.

Yep. No other reason to buy 49.9% of shares unless there's a 50.1% owner holding on to power.

Really been reading too much into Dave's posts. Do you think BK or Woods would sell up? Woods might but BK will hold onto his come what mayso he can sit up and have a good view of the games.

I dont think there's too many who'd believe it's Moshiri.

me & davek disagree on quite a few things (including Kenwright), but on the Mosh we align.

Taking over 50% at the time of his purchase would have invoked all sorts of structural debt changes iirc. Again, iirc, there are share purchase agreements in place for the remaining major shareholders, presumably to be actioned when summet Stadium sized is complete.

Like many, I am reasonably sure there are links with Usnamov still, but the 49.9% holding isnt part of any dinner party discussions, imo.

He could but like every docks project the world over it needs an iconic building or buildings to attract the attention
In my city of Dublin you have the IFSC buildindvst one end , the 3 Arena ( formerly the point depot ) plus the convention centre and the Bord Gais theatre
These buildings set the tone and soon Google Facebook Twitter LinkedIn and dozens more companies had their European bases on the docks
The IFSC ( Irish Financial Services Centre ) is home to dozens of American banks and investment companies.
In Liverpool the new cruise ship terminal , the IOM terminal and an Iconic stadium will be the kickstart for the docks
Build it and they will come
They're only here for the corporation tax.

Any action the Premier League makes should be made personally against the directors. if they punish the club, they end up punishing the fans.

Cheers roydo, I haven't heard that one before. On further inspection there are thousands of minority shareholders out there, many of whom can't be traced (some dating back to pre-war). So it's impossible for a 49.9% stakeholder to be outvoted, and it's impossible for someone to buy the remaining 50.1%.
