I can't believe some of you have got delivery drivers that actually bother to knock
This is something that wound me up. There's absolutely no benefit to not knocking - it's financially harmful to not deliver 1st time for drivers in several companies, but you can bang on a door, ring the doorbell and walk round the house shouting and knocking on windows, back doors and anything else and it's amazing the number of people who'll still claim you haven't knocked.

I had one fella who had a redelivery after complaining strongly about me not knocking the first time I attempted delivery despite me doing so several times. When I went with the redelivery (next day as requested, approximately same time) there was no answer again and I looked through the window as there was a car on the drive. The fella was sat with his back to the window, headphones on and playing a keyboard while singing....knowing a redelivery was due after wrongly complaining about me not knocking.

I'm working from home. I was waiting for a Next delivery and had been in the living room all afternoon. They said between 4 and 6. I went out to the car at about 20 past 6 and two next bags were on the doorstep. This happened a few weeks ago as well with an amazon delivery. Opened the door and the box was leant against the door. Nobody had knocked.

Even if (They hadn't) had knocked why just leave the items on the doorstep?

That fella sounds like an idiot who just wants something to complain about.

This would only be funnier if it was stevie wonders house too

Waited in all day for a delivery today, had an urgent call of nature and had to go to the toilet for literally 3 minutes and came back to find a 'sorry we missed you' card.

Evertonians luck that!

Taxi driver round ours does delivery work from his taxi and they've been told to knock and leave it on the doorstep.

Competitive market now so they cut the payment per drop and further cut it if the items aren't delivered first time. Drivers still out of pocket for his petrol, time and wear and tear so it's inevitable. Not right but that's cheap delivery for you.

I don't get why they'd risk it though. Surely if people 9I was tempted but I got my stuff so didn't want to get anyone in trouble) to ring up and say I haven't had my item. The courier can't prove they've delivered it. I know drivers are on a tight timeline and all that but come on at leats knock!

I'm gonna sound like a right moaner here but I had a delivery this afternoon and the fella tapped on the glass part of the door with his keys really hard. I'm sat near the front door working, can't believe he didn't crack it. He was getting back in his van as I opened the door or I would have said something.

Out of interest why was you fuming?

Obviously I don't know your old fella but if he's happy to do his neighbours a favour then what's the fume about? I've done delivery work and there's quite often a retiree or two who are pretty insistent that they'll happily take stuff in for any neighbours in the street. I'd always card the house the parcel was for and would never expect whoever was good enough to take it in to then deliver it but some people do anyway.

On the face of it, it sounds like a massive over-reaction but then I don't know the details.
My dad was 83 and really frail and not employed by Amazon

Wa does a delivery fella for say dpd earn a day roughly?

is it pennies per parcel?

I think DPDS are salaried, but they are also a nightmare to work for.

I was, like most are, "self employed", and had a service agreement with the company. 90p a drop, but with a van, that would be more like £1.20. (I used my car).

Once you nail your area, £20 an hour was easily doable.

Not bad at all is it, 150 a day on average then easily

how easy are the jobs to come by?

Jobs are a doddle to get. Well, as in "Can you drive and are you allowed to work in the UK?" is the interview.

Online deliveries have exploded this year, so I would guess dropping on any website would have application prompts.
