Paris Olympics 2024

Best thing about the Olympics is seeing people perform you’ve never heard of before and won’t again until 4 years later.
And quite a few are actually world or Olympic defending champions too like Kate French in the modern pentathlon (only she was ill and couldn’t compete today)

I thought the cash was handed over as a lump sum to the individual disciplines like rowing, cycling etc and their governing bodies to choose who gets cash.

Also, 'athletic performance' is a pretty vague concept / measuring rod for who's more worthy.

Yeah. Very fast game. Descended from Native Americans but played in the U.K.

No idea why squash hasn’t been in the Olympics for so long and interesting that cricket is in to try and crack US market finally
But no idea what “Flag Football” is.

Expect Padel &/or Pickleball to be in by 2032

BBC seem to have lost a sense of occasion in these Games. Or they've lost respect for other nations.

They are only allowed to show live sport on one TV channel and one iPlayer channel at any one time. So the coverage on BBC 1 or 2 is always going to focus heavily on what the Brits are doing. They can show highlights of as much stuff as they want but when events are happening every few minutes they are a bit hamstrung.

Canada plays and beats the US (way too) often. Australia and GB will send decent teams and compete for bronze.

A real sticking point the next few years is going to be over whether or not the 3rd best national team in the world can actually participate. Lacrosse has a Haudenosaunee national team made up of Native American nations that regularly plays in world championships but how that will work for 2028 hasn’t been determined.

Surprised Darts hasn't been added. There's a lot of similar sports included.

Could it work similar to the refugee team? Not really sure if they'll be willing to let that happen as you'll then have a lot of in dispute nations who will want to compete.
