Paris Olympics 2024

….i wonder if they take into account how much athletes can earn competing in their sports. The top athletes have Diamond Leaguevand appearance money, I expect Keely Hodgkinson has just become a very wealthy woman.
Correct. That should be factored into lottery funding receipts. But I think they just hand a lump sum cycling and track and field and so on.

But yeah, Hodgkinson will make a fortune off commercial contracts so shouldn't get near any funding.

….Finucane lacks a bit of winners attitude for me. Thought it in the Keirin and it’s confirmed in those races just now. I’m sure it was what Laura Kenny and Chris Hoy were hinting at.
Harsh.

She had 3 golds hung round her neck by the media before the Games.

She's done very well to pick up three medals - one a gold.

One for the future to dominate. She'll be a monster in L.A.

Yeah the track cycling was a tad disappointing this year, but there is a glut of young 'next generation' riders so I'd expect some more golds in LA.

She gets Lottery funding. She said so last night. She packed her job in to go for the Olympics.

Delighted for her too.

Bell was working until fairly recently. And yes she does get lottery funding. My response was to “ GB athletes are financially doped in comparison with other nations apart from the US “ There is a lot of money in athletics if you’re close to the top , In this context GB athletes are competing equally with every other athlete in the world to get sponsorship money , prize money , etc .

Once again BBC ignore the gold medal award after our girl got her silver in the weightlifting. Off back to Laura and Chris chatting in the studio.
Are they pressed for time or something? I don't think so.
BBC seem to have lost a sense of occasion in these Games. Or they've lost respect for other nations.
