Paris Olympics 2024

The setting for this BBC conflab (little Parisian square) is either incredible CGI set design, or they’ve found the most perfect quintessentially French square, with no people walking around on a Saturday morning.

The cobbles on the floor look too ‘flat’ compared to the chairs they’re sat on so I’m going to say it’s brilliant CGI.

But if it is, the BBC are product placing Renaults.

It is CGI, they showed it the other day on the One show.

My overriding thoughts whilst watching niche sports in the Olympics is…

How do so many of these guys/gals make a living ? Take a sport like water polo for example, where the hell is the money coming from to pay them a living wage ?

No one watches the sport, it doesn’t get televised on any meaningful channels so how is anyone making money from it ?

Same goes for countless Olympic sports, I just don’t get how you make a living from sports which no one watches and thus generate no money.

Is it all just government funded purely for the sake of the olympics coming around every four years ?

Got the badminton on but no commentary. Looks like it’s 21 points to win a game. Literally haven’t got a clue how many games you need to win to win the match though. Heads wrecked as the Olympic website leaves that key bit of info out
