What gives anyone any confidence that this Ryazantsez fella is competent?

People who do not know him proclaiming him as the second coming.

I haven’t seen one thing to suggest he’s competent. He’s certainly been around during this absolute cluster of a player and manager recruitment campaign.

At least you admit it..

May can't come soon enough.

Can you see into the future mate or has this part of Ukraine already been annexed?

I thought being Russian may have been an obstacle, unless of course the club is owned by Russians.

Or do I just have no understanding of the pollitics of the area and they'd still rather negotiate with a Russian despite effectively being at war with them.

The owner of Shahktar is the de-facto head of the pro-Russian party in the Ukraine mate, he was once a MP for that same party (party of regions), he owns a Russian language paper in Ukraine and Donetsk itself was/is a majority ethnic Russian city/region.

Their home stadium was hit accidentally 'cough' by Government artillery during fighting in the region as well.

So yeah think sending a Russian Director to negotiate with a pro Russian owner would be a good move really.

He is the second coming.

Just like Moshiri was.
Just like Koeman was.
Just like Walsh was.

We know how to build up staff before knowing much about them/giving them a chance to show us. It's what we do best.

Now we know....Koeman is the worst, Moshiri is a fraud, Walsh doesn't do a thing, Dunc sits around and strokes pigeons.

I hate all this talk about finances and businessmen etc....Wish we could go back to just supporting the team and having opinions on players.

5-year deal though? Bit stupid if true.

If, as has been mentioned by both Martinez and Koeman in there initial press conferences, we are being sold to potential new managers as a "project" then the five year thing is probably about right. For any new guy coming in here it makes sense to look at it as a longer term project. Despite what some might say there are some quality youngsters on the books, the squad needs an over haul - but we can't go through another farce like last year with eight or nine all bought in at once, and hopefully the icing on the cake will be Bramley Moore Dock!

Get the right forward thinking manager in, someone who can see the potential of the "project", and then give them security of the five year deal to go hopefully some way to realising the potential of the project!

The problem some of (us) the fan base will have is accepting the false starts of the last three years and then someone sitting in their first press conference - hopefully on the 1st June, and saying "to get this done properly and the way I want to do it is going to take at least three years"!

We would have to be sold as a project since we are miles away from being a top side currently, what football project would have Fat Sam at its head ? However, I am not sure how many managers have stayed around for "projects" that are sold as up to 5 years in duration, seems simple but the money paid to the managers talks louder than any "project".

City/Chelsea could be seen as projects but are basically just lottery winners, I suppose Spurs might be seen as a project as they are actually building a new stadium but will Poch be around much longer and how will new stadium affect spending (see Arsenal) ?

Mourinho has been basically saying "We are [Poor language removed] but give me time and I can get the project back on track" - he has been there nearly 2 years and had a much better base to start with and plenty of cash to spend than most and still he sees it as a project.

I think the use of "project" is to appease fans that things are going in the right direction and we have a shared/planned future, pile of crap to me as most managers dont last at any clubs (as long as they used to) so 5 year plans are useless most times.

But his contract is up in 2 months, surely we should be talking to his agent no?
