Does from me. Been here donkey's years, been consistent, came back from a bad injury and reclaimed the same form, represented England, scored THAT goal against the Rs to avoid defeat.
So he's what, 36 now and past his best. If he'd quit 3 years ago we'd have all been happy to call him a legend, but he stayed on and we saw his decline.

Consider though, if he HAD gone then, we would've had to watch fat Ashley lead us into relegation. In my eyes, his experience and stoicism contributed to saving us, when we had no real alternative (no other alternative, if hed left at the top).

Or alternatively we'd have bought a replacement who was better than him. But then again it was Koeman and Walsh, so potentially not.

It's called hyperbole, bro. I know Jags isn't literally ancient. Just as Tom Davies isn't actually a foetus.

If a player does something that helps us against a Big 6 team, I'm going to compliment him, even if he's past it. And I'd rather have him as captain than that useless tit Williams.

Some of the comments in here are a disgrace.

Yes he cost us 3 points at Wolves with his shambolic display, but he's still a loyal club servant.

By all means ship him off in the summer but dont tarnish his reputation in the game.
