He is the last face of the acceptance of mediocrity left at the club, an okay defender and pretty average footballer and pathetic leader
I agree about the leader bit, but he was better than an ok defender. Fir a few years he was up there with the best in the league.

It is perhaps no surprise that some footballers seem to show minimal attachment to their clubs when fans forums frequently contain a clutch of internet faux hardmen who cannot wait to come on line to spew their foul and mean spirited invective on players who have served their club well ,and continue to do so, such as
Jagielka.
I ,for one, applaud his excellent contribution to our cause over the years as player and captain. As Sunday aptly illustrated he is still an able and important member of our squad fully able to perform his duties well when called upon.
Phil Jagielka is not only a loyal and talented member of our squad he is also worthy of the appellation Evertonian, and there is no higher praise.

Yes mate that's it, jags is sitting at finch farm now on his phone flicking through this forum raging

they show no attachment because why would they? if I played for say brighton for a few years got paid well and left I wouldn't be pure buying season tickets after it, it's just a job at the end of the day

Without being nasty, he did look in terrible shape. He'll be fine as fourth choice with Holgate for the rest of the season but we will need two new center backs in the summer, regardless of how well jags finishes the season.

If you cannot afford a modicum of respect to a player who has served and continues to serve the club well ,on whom do you bestow your respect and admiration?
I believe Jagielka’s attachment to the club is more than just a job and he genuinely and rightly regards himself as a Evertonian.
If however you can identify any way he has done anything to disrespect or denigrate the club or its support during his tenure here and is thus deserving of the opprobrium some gratuitously mean spirited people seem determined to heap upon him, I would be grateful.

Jags is an Evertonian, end off! He also says that his son is an Evertonian.

4th choice after embarrassing himself at wolves, soon to be executed by brands

Just hang on. Bill is still waiting in the shadows for one more decent 10 minutes off the bench, and then...

why are you writing paragraphs like your sitting an English exam?

im not disrespecting him either, just saying why he might not care what a few people on a forum think

Jagielka has been an excellent player for us, a model professional, and will go down as one of the most respected and best Everton players of the 2000-2020 era. Don't understand the pathetic digs at him.

The fact he never won a trophy and didn't have that "nastiness" about him is why him and Baines played for Everton for most of their careers and not at a successful side in the Premier League era though.

Both were always just a level below the top, much like Everton were under Moyes.

Jagielka been at the club ages and is an alright captain. Decent as 4th choice but I’m Just happy we never have to see Ashley Williams again
