Jagielka and Distin dug each other out on occasion because they have/had a lot of pace. But they've always been limited. I was amazed Martinez didn't get at least one last summer. I dont agree that we'd have to cough up loads to get an upgrade on them either. Van Dijk would have cost about £10M in this window. The players are out there and we need to be going forward and evolving, not sticking with CBs because they've been with us years and can still do a job once every ten games.

Ok, but would you not agree that Jagielka has looked spot on

Im not nit-picking but already that is 4 decent performances where we havent lost in normal time. Don't you think thats worthy of recognition and further challenges your point of "1 good game in 10"?

Jagielka has to be consigned to the dustbin. If Martinez is serious about playing his system he'll need to make tough decisions on comings and goings....it's the one major achilles heel I think he has, tbh. He really needs to be ruthless.
