Jagielka and Distin dug each other out on occasion because they have/had a lot of pace. But they've always been limited. I was amazed Martinez didn't get at least one last summer. I dont agree that we'd have to cough up loads to get an upgrade on them either. Van Dijk would have cost about £10M in this window. The players are out there and we need to be going forward and evolving, not sticking with CBs because they've been with us years and can still do a job once every ten games.

I've been praying for us to sign Van Dijk for ages. Him and Stones would be such a boss partnership. Definitely need to replace Jags.

Are you not a bit grumpy from my earlier comment? I called it immature that you would say:

All i was saying is that there is never a need to scotch at anyones opinion, whether or not you actually believe you have the greater football knowledge. The fact is you probably dont, because its not something you can qualify or guage.

He's been far too inconsistant this season Jags,I know you can say the whole team has,but really you're looking for the skipper to bind us together and lead from the front he's been sadly lacking,I do think his days are numbered with us,maybe Martinez carries some blame in this as he's looked far more vulnerable playing the passing game at the back,he's always been a row Z man Jags and that's no criticism of him as in the main he's been a very good signing.

What I liked on Saturday was his leadership. He has been missing a bit too much this season, but on Saturday it really looked like he was rollocking a few around him. We need that leadership from a captain.

Stones making him look better than he is, the entire defence and keeper just look that much calmer with stones in the team, jagielka is okay, a bit limited for my liking, and an area we should be looking to improve on, he will do for now

Hasnt had the best season but no chance would i let him go. I would like to see us go in for another cb like scharr van dijk. Also i wouldnt mind us going for another cb joe gomez at charlton to partner galloway in the youth team
