Phil Jagielka

Not that I remember mate. I did turn it off after the initial analysis though (before the break) so he might have afterwards.

He did say that the first goal "just couldn't be stopped'......after Stones showed Aspas the inside with his left, favoured foot.

I'm not Stones bashing at all... these things happen... I just find it hilarious that Jagielka gets bashed so much and he did literally nothing wrong last night.
This is why i was done with England after the summer mate. When the only players deemed not good enough for that team was everton ones, and the fact it is always everton players blamed for mistakes on the pitch, as an everton fan i have stopped caring entirely.

I remember it was the world cup, where we lost to Uruguay, and Jags was slated for a mistake he made which allowed suarez to score to win the game. the pundits all went in on him after the game, all his fault. Failing to point out jags was playing him offside until captain tit failed to win a simple header properly and headed it backwards, then making Suarez onside.

After the three centre backs debacle at Chelsea, I doubt Jagielka will get a look in now unless Williams gets injured or Mori proves to be completely useless.

Not sure how he got the blame for last night, though. He was bullied by Morata in the build up to Spain's first, but other than that did nothing wrong.

I hate to come to this conclusion but Jags is declining and it has hit me hard this year. Glad to see him play last night but the sad fact is the game is to quick for his body now. It happens to the best of us. Gives it his all. Sometimes that isn't enough now.

I hope he gets abused every time his name is read out on the team sheet now until he leaves. I don't care if he's been a good player for us, what matters is he's not as good as he used to be and needs to be told.

Yeah agree he got turned very easily by Morata (who looks a very handy player!) but how is that ball being played so easily into him? How is Morata under no pressure and therefore can push a touch in front of him, away from Jagielka, turn and use his pace?

We were 2-0 at the time. See the game out. Apologies for the Jarg-MNF but look at this when the ball turned-over:

I've circled our two holding midfielders (Dier and Henderson) and Creswell. On 88.34 minutes. Against Spain. 2-0 up. lol

Surely Dier, not involved in the game whatsoever, should be 5 yards further over to cut out any pass to Morata?

Leaves us 3 on 3! From one simple pass!

Absolute comedy.

Jags can't get too tight because if Morata turns him he is literally in on goal, one on one.

Without any protection in front of him though, as I say, Morata can push away from Jags, turn, and punish his lack of pace. Probably best if Jagielka had just hacked him down.

They are the international equivalent of Everton - not one genuine leader or organiser on the pitch.

This is why there'll be journalists calling for John Terry to play at Qatar 2022.

While I don't think he should have been picked for the latest England squad, he didn't actually do anything wrong last night. Made some great clearances.

At fault for the goals were Stones and Heaton, end of. Not that I care. I put money on Spain as soon as they got their first to go and equalise so I'm a winner :)

Jags has been very good for us for the best part of a decade. He shouldn't now be an automatic starter and in all honesty I don't think he will be.
Did you see that moment when he dived under the ball and a 5 foot f.a. Spaniard took it off him and strolled off? Jagielka that.

That was Alvaro Morata. 1.89m in height. Just for your reference, i've done a conversion.

He seemed smaller. Must be those red shirts.

Hardly matters though; Jagielka was coming onto that ball and should have taken it and Morata too in clearing his lines.

The feller's an embarrassment.

Apparently there are stories he was on the booze with Rooney in the last few days. He looked like a pub player last night.

I also couldn't believe that Dixon blamed Jags for the 2nd goal, if he had gone across to Isco and he subsequently squared the ball leaving a simple tap in for a Spaniard then he would've been slaughtered.
As for Stones he's exactly the same player we saw last season without the criticism for his mistakes followed by the mantra 'he needs to leave Everton to improve'. The fact is he will improve, this is a natural progression for all young players, I just haven't witnessed it yet. I wonder if Ross has noticed how Stones is now automatically chosen for England and is absolved from any blame....
