To be honest I'm glad. Some of our best players of the last decade have been played well past their best and it tarnishes one's memories of them somewhat. But Jags has been immense for us and I'd hate it if that happened. Has he been here long enough for a testimonial? Certainly deserving of one.

If there had been a suitable bid for him in January combined with a replacement being available then I would have expected him to leave.
As you mention, Holgate appears to now be the preferred choice, although it is still nice to have someone of Jag's experience able to come on.
Yet he'll almost certainly be off in the Summer and if we bring in a top defender then I'd be more than happy with Mori, Williams, Holgate +1.
...I also think Pennington has emerged as a player RK would throw in if the need arose.

It will be 10 years this Summer mate, so im actually kind of glad he never went anywhere during January as he's definitely deserving of a testimonial.
...I suspect he'll be off to pursue game time in the summer, I think he still has plenty to offer the right type of club. I'd be surprised if he hangs around for a pre-season testimonial.

A great player for us in his day. There was a derby match at Goodison some years back. Torres was at the height of his powers (before he became terrible). Jags had him in his pocket all afternoon.

I think we should give him and Baines joint testimonial and then allow him to leave. He has been a good servant and at the height of his powers turned down Arsenal stating he already gets paid enough and likes it here. If he was happy to stay as a back up I would keep him as he's a good example for younger players but I imagine he still wants to play so we should afford him this opportunity.
