Phil Jagielka

Have heard it mentioned that Cahill and Smalling are now England's first choice centre-halfs, the pair of them aren't a patch on Jags and Stones.
Smalling has significantly improved over the last six months and tbf can understand why Hodgson would prefer to try to establish a younger partnership that could last several years.

Stones in the right and Smalling on the left is probably his long term preference.

Very happy we have a Stones and Jags partnership though.

England's pairing for the next 2 or 3 years should be our two lads.

It should be their positions to lose.

Jagielka has been outstanding in 2015. Well deserved.

Only 2 Prem teams have conceded less league goals than Everton in 2015, Arsenal and Man Utd.

People who criticise and don't appreciate Jagielka really don't know what they're talking about. We're very lucky to have him and he's been a fantastic servant to the club.

LFC would kill to have a centre half like Jagielka. They'd have won the league in 2014 if they'd had him in their side.

he's improved from turd, to not very good.

He is positionally all over the place.

So you concede that he is playing well and your earlier, quite damning criticism of him was unjustified?
No. I've always known he's a good stopper. I just don't think he's the greatest CB with the ball at his feet, that he's way too passive as a captain, and (my main gripe) that he goes walkabout for a period during any season.

In short, I'm being consistent.

And we respect you for that.
I just can't agree with the passive comment when a 20 year old CB and a south American with zero experience of European football have slotted seamlessly in next to him. Surely him coaxing them through is the opposite of passive?

Some people's opinion on Jags leads me to believe they know very little about a team game, the man has been consistently good, with the odd patch not too good like every player that's played the game.

Be funny watching either Rio Ferdinand or John Terry switching sides of the centreback pairing Dave and using their 'wrong' feet like Jags does with some outstanding left footed passes.

In fact I can't think of another recent centreback convert like this and look so natural and commanding.
