Too often when the chips are down he doesn't gee up the team in anyway, or show any emotion. Just sulks and passes across to the other CB.

Shocking pass but completely unlike him this season.

When he starts doing that regularly then we can lump him in with Naismith and Howard, but anyone having too much of a go can do one. Players make mistakes and have bad games now and then. It's only when it happens routinely that you have a real problem.

He needs to put this game behind him now and re-focus. Jagielka has a had a terrible tendency in the past to not put a brake on poor form and slump from game to game for a prolonged period.

He needs to get his head in the game and show some leadership. We'll desperately need it at Arsenal next week.

We could have had Baresi in the middle today and still lost it.

The manager set us up (yet again) with the wrong team/tactics from the start. Except this time we were playing a team too good to reverse the deficit like we've had to so many times already.

I dont believe anything could have changed that game today. I honestly thought the HK news would bring a huge downer on us, and so it proved. It just wasn't a day for us to turn up and play football, imo.

The result is trivial to the fans in the face of Kendall's passing. And so it should be.

But still, I find it hard to excuse such a gutless and clueless performance.

The opposition were right up for it; we weren't. I'd say events didn't help us there today.

Mr England let the armband go to his head.

.. and not for the first time. Recently he's been showing great form and leadership and y'day somewhat embarrassed himself.

I've never considered him to be a 'clever player', moving him from his natural right side of the CB pairing to the left side may have unsettled him. Roonet beating him for pace, at least twice, doesn't bode well.

Think similar. The day in general was just 'one of them' - from a footballing perspective. I don't think we played dreadfully, but we lacked cutting edge and sharpness. Understandable with players returning from injuries and the internationals.

Jags had a poor one, but I'm sure he'll rediscover his form.
